सचित्र उत्तराध्ययन सूत्र
The students, who were beating monk Harikeśabala, their heads sunk backwards, arms stretched, strength has gone, eyes wide-opened, vomitted blood, faces became upward, tongues protruded and became like lifeless logs . ( 29 )
ते पासिया खण्डय कट्ठभूए, विमणो विसण्णो अह माहणो सो । इसिं पसाएइ सभारियाओ, हीलं च निन्दं च खमाह भन्ते ॥ ३० ॥
छात्रों को काष्ट के समान निश्चेष्ट देखकर वह विप्र रुद्रदेव उदास और भयभीत हो गया तथा अपनी पत्नी भद्रा सहित मुनि को प्रसन्न करने लगा, कहने लगा- हे भगवन् ! हमने जो आपकी निन्दा और अवहेलना की है, हमारे इस अपराध की क्षमा प्रदान करें ॥३०॥
Seeing his students like lifeless logs, brähmaṇa Rudradeva became sad and filled with fear and began to appease monk with his consort Bhadra, he prayed-Reverend ! we have abused and insulted you, please forgive us for our offence. (30)
बालेहिं मूढेहिं अयाणएहिं जं हीलिया तस्स खमाह भन्ते ! महप्पसाया इसिणो हवन्ति, न हु मुणी कोवपरा हवन्ति ॥३१॥
हे भगवन् ! ऋषिजन तो महान प्रसन्नचित्त होते हैं, वे किसी पर क्रोध नहीं करते। आप भी इन मूर्ख अज्ञानी बालकों को इनके द्वारा की गई आपकी अवहेलना को क्षमा करें ॥३१ ॥
O Venerable! seers are always pleased minded. They never be angry with anyone. You please forgive the insult and abuse, that is done by these ignorant yougsters. (31)
पुव्विं च इण्हिं च अणागयं च, मणप्पदोसो न मे अत्थि कोइ । जक्खा हु वेयावडियं करेन्ति, तम्हा हु एए निहया कुमारा ॥ ३२ ॥
(मुनि हरिकेशबल) - हे सौम्य ! मेरे हृदय में तुम्हारे प्रति किसी प्रकार का द्वेष न पहले कभी था, न अब है और न भविष्य में ही कभी होगा। मेरी सेवा में जो यक्ष रहते हैं, उन्होंने ही कुमारों की ऐसी दशा की है ॥ ३२ ॥
(Monk Harikeśabala) There is not the least anger for you, ever before, now, or in future in my heart. The yakṣas, who serve me, came forth themselves and brought the youngsters to this condition. (32)
अत्थं च धम्मं च वियाणमाणा, तुब्भे न वि कुप्पह भूइपन्ना । तुब्भं तु पाए सरणं उवेमो, समागया सव्वजणेण अम्हे ॥३३॥
( रुद्रदेव ) - धर्म और उसके अर्थ को वास्तविक रूप से जानने वाले आप भूतिप्रज्ञ हैं - रक्षाप्रधान बुद्धि से युक्त हैं। आप क्रोध नहीं करते हैं। हम सब आपकी शरण ग्रहण कर रहे हैं ॥३३॥
(Rudradeva) You very-well know the religion and its true interpretation, you are wise and witty. You are free of anger. O Compassionate sage ! we all take refuge at your feet. (33)
अच्चेमु ते महाभाग ! न ते किंचि न अच्चिमो । भुंजाहि सालिमं कूरं, नाणावंजण - संजुयं ॥३४॥
