सचित्र उत्तराध्ययन सूत्र
तत्तो वि य उवट्टित्ता, संसारं बहु अणुपरियडन्ति ।
बहुकम्मलेवलित्ताणं, बोही होइ सुदुल्लहा तेसिं ॥१५॥ उस आसुरकाय से निकलकर भी वे दीर्घकाल तक संसार में परिभ्रमण करते हैं, अत्यधिक कर्मों से लिप्त होने के कारण उन्हें सम्यक् बोधि की प्राप्ति अति दुर्लभ होती है ॥१५॥
Coming out of ăsura-kāya, they transmigrate till a long time in the world. Their souls sullied by rigid karmas, attainment of true-knowledge becomes very hard to them. (15)
कसिणं पि जो इमं लोयं, पडिपुण्णं दलेज्ज इक्कस्स ।
तेणावि से न संतुस्से, इइ दुप्पूरए इमे आया ॥१६॥ यह आत्मा लोभ से इतनी अभिभूत है-धन-धान्य आदि से परिपूर्ण यह संसार किसी एक व्यक्ति को भी दे दिया जाय तब भी वह संतुष्ट नहीं होता ॥१६॥
The soul is so greedy that if this world full of wealth etc., bestowed lavishly to a single man, even then he can not be contented. (16)
जहा लाहो तहा लोहो, लाहा लोहो पवढई ।
दोमास - कयं कज्जं, कोडीए वि न निट्ठियं ॥१७॥ जैसे-जैसे लाभ होता है, वैसे-वैसे ही लोभ भी होता है। लाभ से लोभ बढ़ता जाता है। दो माशा सोने से पूरा हो जाने वाला कार्य करोड़ों स्वर्णमुद्राओं से भी पूरा न हो सका ॥१७॥ ____ The more a man gets, he wants still more. As the gain increases, the greed flares up. The gain enhances the greed many times. The work which could be done by two māšā gold, the crore gold coins cannot suffice that. (17)
नो रक्खसीसु गिज्झेज्जा, गंडवच्छासु ऽणेगचित्तासु ।
जाओ पुरिसं पलोभित्ता, खेल्लन्ति जहा व दासेहिं ॥१८॥ कपटपूर्ण हृदय वाली तथा जिनके वक्ष पर फोड़े या गांठ के समान स्तन हैं, जिनका हृदय अनेक कामनाओं से चंचल है. जो परुष को प्रलोभन में फंसाकर उसे दास के समान नचाने वाली हैं. वासना गरी राक्षसी के समान स्त्रियों में आसक्ति मत रखो ॥१८॥
Never be desirous of women, who are like female demons, due to the deceitful hearts and minds, their boil-like swollen breasts. They flirt with many, attract men and treats them their slaves. (18)
नारीसु नोवगिज्झेज्जा, इत्थी विप्पजहे अणगारे ।
धम्मं च पेसलं नच्चा, तत्थ ठवेज्ज भिक्खू अप्पाणं ॥१९॥ स्त्रियों (स्त्री संसर्ग) का त्याग करने वाला गृहत्यागी भिक्षु उनमें गृद्ध न हो और साधु-धर्म को ही इस तथा परलोक में कल्याणकारी समझकर उसमें स्वयं अपनी आत्मा को स्थिर करे ॥१९॥ The houseless ascetic, who has renounced the women, should not indulge in them. ieving ascetic's code of conduct beneficial in this life and life to come after, the adicant should fix himself in his own soul. (19)
