Blessed Gautam ! The bones of their ribs were 256 in number. Their
breath was fragrant like lotus or sweet smell of kushtha. So, their mouth
was always emitting sweet smell. They were cool by nature. In their life,
anger, ego, deceit and greed were subsided or very little. Their behaviour 5

was pleasant. They were always observing discipline prescribed by their teacher in all the activities. They were fully absorbed. They were
humble, simple respectful towards elders and were having limited desires. They were never accumulating stale food and the like. They
were living under the trees that were mansion-like in shape. They were 卐 enjoying sensual pleasures of voice, sight, taste, smell and touch according to their desire.
२९. [ प्र. ] तेसि णं भंते! मणुआणं केवइकालस्स आहारट्ठे समुप्पज्जइ ?
5 समणाउसो !
[उ. ] गोयमा ! अट्ठमभत्तस्स आहारट्ठे समुप्पज्जइ, पुढवीपुप्फफलाहारा णं ते मणुआ पण्णत्ता
[प्र. ] तीसे णं भंते! पुढवीए केरिसए आसाए पण्णत्ते ?

[उ.] गोयमा ! से जहाणामए गुलेइ वा, खंडेइ वा, सक्कराइ वः, मच्छंडिआइ वा, पप्पडमोअएइ
वा, भिसेइ वा, पुप्फुत्तराइ वा, पउमुत्तराइ वा, विजयाइ वा, महाविजयाइ वा, आकासिआइ बा, आदसिआइ वा, आगासफलोवमाइ वा, उवमाइ वा, अणोवमाइ वा ।
[प्र. ] एयारूवे ?
[उ. ] गोयमा ! णो इणट्ठे समट्ठे, सा णं पुढवी इतो इट्ठतरिआ चेव, (पियतरिआ चेव, कंततरिआ चेव, मणुण्णतरिआ चेव) मणामतरिआ चेव आसाएणं पण्णत्ता ।
[प्र.] तेसिं णं भंते ! पुप्फफलाणं केरिसए आसाए पण्णत्ते ?
[उ.] गोयमा ! से जहाणामए रण्णो चाउरंतचक्कवट्टिस्स कल्लाणे भोअणजाए सयसहस्सनिफन्ने वववे, (गंधेणं उववेए, रसेणं उववेए) फासेणं उववेए, आसायणिज्जे, विसायणिज्जे, दिप्पणिज्जे, दप्पणिज्जे, मयणिज्जे, बिंहणिज्जे, सव्विंदिअगायपल्हायणिज्जे ।
[प्र. ] भवे एयारूवे ?
[ उ. ] गोयमा ! णो इणट्ठे समट्ठे तेसि णं पुप्फफलाणं एत्तो इट्ठतराए चैव जाव आसाए पण्णत्ते । २९. [ प्र. ] भगवन् ! उन मनुष्यों को कितने समय बाद आहार की इच्छा उत्पन्न होती है ?
