yakshagrah, bhootagrah and the like caused by vyantar gods, unbearable pain in head, heart, armpit, private part, when such diseases spread in villages up to towns.
[Ans.) Blessed Gautam ! Those human beings were totally free from lasting diseases such as leprosy and the like and fatal diseases such as heart diseases. (This discription of the daily life of those people indicates that peace was prevailing in the region at that time.) मनुष्यों की आयु आदि LIFE-SPAN ETC. OF HUMAN BEINGS
३२. [प्र. १ ] तीसे णं भंते ! समाए भारहे वासे मणुआणं केवइअं कालं ठिई पण्णत्ता ? [उ. ] गोयमा ! जहण्णेणं देसूणाई तिण्णि पलिओवमाइं, उक्कोसेणं तिण्णि पलिओवमाई। ३२. [प्र.१] भगवन् ! उस समय भरत क्षेत्र में मनुष्यों का आयुष्य कितने काल का होता है?
[उ. ] गौतम ! उस समय उनका आयुष्य जघन्य-तीन पल्योपम से कम (स्त्रियों की अपेक्षा) का तथा उत्कृष्ट-तीन पल्योपम का होता है।
32. [Q. 1] Reverend Sir ! What was the life-span of human beings in Bharat area at that time?
(Ans.) Gautam ! The minimum life-span was a bit less than three palyopam (in case of women) and the maximum was three palyopam.
३२. [प्र. २ ] तीसे णं भंते ! समाए भारहे वासे मणुआणं सरीरा केवइअं उच्चत्तेणं पण्णता ? [उ. ] गोयमा ! जहण्णेणं देसूणाई तिण्णि गाउआई, उक्कोसेणं तिण्णि गाउआई। ३२. [प्र. २ ] भगवन् ! उस समय भरत क्षेत्र में मनुष्यों के शरीर कितने ऊँचे होते हैं ? [उ. ] गौतम ! उनके शरीर जघन्यतः कुछ कम तीन कोस तथा उत्कृष्टतः तीन कोस ऊँचे होते हैं।
32. [Q. 2] Reverend Sir ! What was the height of human beings then in Bharat area ?
[Ans.) Gautam ! The minimum height was a little less than three kos (six miles) and the maximum was three kos.
३२. [प्र. ३ ] ते णं भंते ! मणुआ किंसंघयणी पण्णत्ता ? [उ. ] गोयमा ! वइरोसभणारायसंघयणी पण्णत्ता। ३२. [प्र. ३ ] भगवन् ! उन मनुष्यों का संहनन कैसा होता है ? [उ. ] गौतम ! वे वज्र-ऋषभ-नाराच-संहननयुक्त होते हैं।
