३१. [प्र. १६ ] भगवन् ! क्या उस समय भरत क्षेत्र में सिंह, व्याघ्र-बाघ, वृक-भेड़िया, . द्वीपिक-चीते, ऋच्छ-भालू, तरक्ष-मृगभक्षी व्याघ्र-विशेष, शृगाल-गीदड़, विडाल-बिलाव, शुनक-कुत्ते, .
कोकन्तिक-लोमड़ी, कोलशुनक-जंगली कुत्ते या सूअर-ये सब होते हैं ? + [उ. ] आयुष्मन् श्रमण गौतम ! ये सब होते हैं, पर वे उन मनुष्यों को जरा भी बाधा, विशेष बाधा के
नहीं पहुँचाते और न उनका छविच्छेद-अंग-भंग ही करते हैं अथवा न उनकी चमड़ी नोंचकर उन्हें 5 विकृत बना देते हैं। क्योंकि वे जंगली जानवर प्रकृति से भद्र होते हैं। ____31. [Q. 16] Reverend Sir ! Did lion, leopard, wolf, tiger, bear, special type of tiger that takes flesh of deer, jackal, cat, dog, fox, wild dogs or boars-and the like exist at that time in Bharat area ?
[Ans.) Blessed Gautam ! All such beasts were there but they were not causing even the slightest disturbance, special disturbance or harm to humans. They never caused harm to any part of their body nor pulled out skin. Those wild beasts were of simple nature.
३१. [प्र. १७ ] अत्थि णं भंते ! तीसे समाए भरहे वासे सालीइ वा, वीहि-गोहूम-जवजव-जवाइ वा, कलाय-मसूर-मग्ग-मास-तिल-कुलत्थ-णिप्फाव-आलिसंदग-अयसिकुसुंभ-कोहव-कंगुवरगरालग-सण-सरिसव-मूलगबीआइ वा ?
[उ. ] हंता अत्थि, णो चेव णं तेसिं मणुआणं परिभोगत्ताए हव्यमागच्छंति।
३१. [प्र. १७ ] भगवन् ! क्या उस समय भरत क्षेत्र में शाली-कलम जाति के चावल, व्रीहि-ब्रीहि ॐ जाति के चावल, गोधूम-गेहूँ, यव-जौ, यवयव-विशेष जाति के जौ, कलाय-गोल चने-मटर, मसूर, + मूंग, उड़द, तिल, कुलथी, निष्पाव-वल्ल, आलिसंदक-चौला, अलसी, कुसुम्भ, कोद्रव-कोदों, कंगु-बड़े +
पीले चावल, वरक, रालक-छोटे पीले चावल, सण-धान्य-विशेष, सरसों, मूलक-मूली आदि जमीकंदों : के बीज-ये सब होते हैं ?
[उ. ] गौतम ! ये होते हैं, पर उन मनुष्यों के उपयोग में नहीं आते।
31. [Q. 17] Reverend Sir ! Did rice of kalam quality, of brihi quality, wheat, barley, special type of barley, grams, peas, masoor, pulses like moong, urad, til, kulath, vall, linseed, kusumbh, kodravas, long yellow Si rice, small yellow rice, sana seeds, mustard, radish seeds and seeds of vegetables that grow underground exist in Bharat area at that time? ___ [Ans.] Gautam ! They did exist but they were not used by these people.
३१. [प्र. १८ ] अस्थि णं भंते ! तीसे समाए भरहे वासे गुड्ढाइ वा, दरी-ओवाय-पवाय-विसमविज्जलाइ वा ?
[उ. ] णो इणढे समढे, तीसे समाए भरहे वासे बहुसमरमणिज्जे भूमिभागे पण्णत्ते, से जहाणामए आलिंगपुक्खरेइ वा। | जम्बूद्वीप प्रज्ञप्ति सूत्र
