31. [Q.5] Reverend Sir ! Is it a fact that king, crown prince, noble, distinguished person enjoying special status awarded by the king, landlord, heads of large families, extremely rich person whose wealth could conceal even an elephant, civilized, well cultured persons, army chiefs, expert traders dealing in export and import were there in Bharat area at that time ?
[Ans.] Gautam ! It is not so. Those human beings were indifferent towards wealth, status and honour.
३१. [प्र. ६ ] अत्थि णं भंते ! तीसे समाए भरहे वासे दासेइ वा, पेसेइ वा, सिस्सेइ वा, भयगेइ वा, भाइल्लएइ वा, कम्मयरएइ वा ?
[उ. ] णो इणट्टे समठे। ववगयअभिओगा णं ते मणुआ पण्णत्ता समणाउसो !
३१. [प्र. ६ ] भगवन् ! क्या उस समय भरत क्षेत्र में दास-खरीदे हुए या गृह-दासी से उत्पन्न परिचर, प्रेष्य-दौत्यादि कार्य करने वाले सेवक, शिष्य-अनुशासनीय, शिक्षणीय व्यक्ति, भृतक-वृत्ति या वेतन लेकर कार्य करने वाले परिचारक, भागिक-भाग बँटाने वाले, हिस्सेदार तथा कर्मकर-गृह सम्बन्धी कार्य करने वाले नौकर होते हैं ?
[उ. ] गौतम ! ऐसा नहीं होता। वे मनुष्य स्वामी-सेवक-भाव आदि से अतीत होते हैं।
31.[Q.6] Reverend Sir ! Is it a fact that there were slaves, families of slaves, employees or students, employees working on salary or wages, or on share of the produce and domestic servants at that time in Bharat
area?
[Ans.] Gautam ! It is not so. Those human beings are far away from servant-master attitude.
३१. [प्र. ७ ] अस्थि णं भंते ! तीसे समाए भरहे वासे मायाइ वा, पियाइ वा, भायाइ वा, भगिणीइ वा, भज्जाइ वा, पुत्ताइ वा, धूआइ वा, सुण्हाइ वा ? [उ. ] हंता अत्थि, णो चेव णं तेसिं मणुआणं तिब्वे पेम्मबंधणे समुप्पज्जइ।
३१. [प्र. ७ ] भगवन् ! क्या उस समय भरत क्षेत्र में माता, पिता, भाई, बहिन, पत्नी, पुत्र, पुत्री तथा पुत्र-वधू ये सब होते हैं ?
[उ. ] गौतम ! ये सब वहाँ होते हैं, परन्तु उन मनुष्यों का उनमें तीव्र प्रेम-बन्ध उत्पन्न नहीं होता।
31. [Q.7] Reverend Sir ! Do mother, father, sister, brother, wife, son, daughter and daughter-in-law exist in Bharat area at that time?
(Ans.) Gautam ! All these relations can be found but they do not have attachment of extreme order among them.
