was a place believed to be suitable for various activities, such as salutations by reciting panegyrics and other rites (vandaniya); paying homage (namaskaraniya); worshiping with flowers and other such things (pujaniya); honouring by offering clothes (satkaraniya); giving a place of honour in one's mind (sammananiya); revering as a place that is a source of boons and beatitude (kalyanmaya), remover of hurdles, faults and adverse conditions (pratiharak) and divine powers; and worthy of worship with profound devotion.
It was divine and real. Desires of devotees got fulfilled there. A large variety of offerings, gifts and things of worship were available there. Throngs of people visited and worshipped at Purnabhadra Chaitya for fulfillment of their mundane desires. वनखण्ड का दृश्य
३. से णं पुण्णभद्दे चेइए एक्केणं महया वणसंडेणं सव्वओ समंता परिक्खित्ते। से णं वणसंडे किण्हे, किण्होभासे, नीले, नीलोभासे, हरिए, हरिओभासे, सीए, सीओभासे, णिद्धे, गिद्धोभासे, तिब्वे, तिव्वोभासे, किण्हे, किण्हच्छाए, नीले, नीलच्छाए, हरिए, हरियच्छाए, सीए, सीयच्छाए, णिद्धे, णिद्धच्छाए, तिव्वे, तिव्वच्छाए, घणकडिअकडिच्छाए, रम्मे, महामेहणिकुरंबभूए।
३. वह पूर्णभद्र चैत्य चारों ओर से एक विशाल वनखण्ड-(अनेक जाति के वृक्षों के समूह) से घिरा हुआ था। वृक्षों की अत्यधिक सघनता के कारण वह वनखण्ड काला, काली आभा वाला, (मोर की गर्दन जैसा) नीला, नीली आभा वाला तथा (तोते की पूँछ जैसा) हरा, हरी आभा वाला दिखाई देता था। (लताओं, पौधों व वृक्षों की प्रचुरता के कारण) उसकी हवा शीतल, शीतल आभामय लगती थी। वहाँ की मिट्टी स्निग्ध-चिकनी, रूक्षतारहित, स्निग्ध आभामय, तीव्र-सुन्दर वर्ण आदि से युक्त थी। वृक्षों की शाखाओं के परस्पर मिल जाने, गुँथ जाने के कारण उसकी छाया अत्यन्त गहरी थी। उसका दृश्य ऐसा रमणीय लगता था, मानो बड़े-बड़े बादलों की घटाएँ घिरी हों। DESCRIPTION OF THE GARDEN
