समय ( आन-प्राण - एक उच्छ्वास - निःश्वास का काल ), थोव - स्तोक - (सात उच्छ्वासनिःश्वास का काल), लव - (सात थोव), मुहूर्त - ( सतत्तर लव) दिन-रात, पक्ष, मास, अयन-छह मास एवं अन्य दीर्घकालिक संयोग में, तथा (४) भाव की अपेक्षा से क्रोध, अहंकार, माया, लोभ, भय या हास्य में उनका किसी भी प्रकार का कोई प्रतिबन्ध व आसक्ति भाव नहीं था ।
UNRESTRICTED ANAGARS
28. These Shraman Bhagavants of Bhagavan Mahavir's order were not encumbered by any restriction, obstruction or obsession in their spiritual pursuits.
Restrictions are said to be of four kinds-related to substance, related to area, related to time and related to attitude.
(1) In relation to substance the obstruction is from sachit (living), achit (non-living) and mixed substances. ( 2 ) In relation to area the restriction is of village, city, farm, farm-yard, house and courtyard. (3) In relation to time the restriction is of Samaya (the smallest indivisible unit of time ), Avalika, Asamkhyat Samaya, Stok, Lav, Muhurt, day and night, fortnight, month, Ayan and other longer units of time (refer to Illustrated Anuyogadvar Sutra, pp. 290-292 for details about these units). 4. In relation to attitude the obsession is of anger, conceit, deceit, greed, fear or mirth. They were not restricted by or obsessed with any of these on the spiritual path. विहार चर्या.
२९. ते णं भगवंतो वासावासवज्जं अट्ठ गिम्हहेमंतियाणि मासाणि गामे एगराइया, यरे पंचराइया ।
वासीचंदणसमाणकप्पा, समलेट्ठ-कंचणा, समसुह - दुक्खा, इहलोग - परलोग अप्पडिबद्धा, संसारपारगामी, कम्मणिग्घायणट्ठाए अब्भुट्टिया विहरंति ।
२९. वे साधु भगवान वर्षावास - चातुर्मास के चार महीने छोड़कर ग्रीष्म तथा हेमन्त (शीतकाल ) दोनों ऋतुओं के आठ महीनों तक किसी गाँव में एक रात तथा नगर में पाँच रात निवास करते थे ।
वे चन्दन के समान अपना अपकार करने वाले का भी उपकार करने की वृत्ति रखते थे अथवा बसूले के समान क्रूर व्यवहार करने वाले - अपकारी तथा चन्दन के समान सौम्य व्यवहार करने वाले उपकारी- दोनों के ही प्रति राग-द्वेषरहित समान भाव धारण किये
