एवं खलु समणाउसो! निग्गंथो वा निग्गंथी वा णिदाणं किच्चा तस्स ठाणस्स अणालोइय जाव देवलोएसु देवत्ताए उववज्जन्ति जाव किं ते आसगस्स सदति । __ एवं खलु श्रमण ! आयुष्मन् ! निर्ग्रन्था वा निर्ग्रन्थ्यो वा निदानं कृत्वा तत्स्थानमनालोच्य यावद्देव-लोकेषु देवतयोत्पद्यन्ते यावत्किं ते आस्यकस्य स्वदते ।
पदार्थान्वयः-समणाउसो-हे आयुष्मन् ! श्रमण ! एवं खलु-इस प्रकार निश्चय से निग्गंथो-निर्ग्रन्थ वा-अथवा निग्गंथी-निर्ग्रन्थी निदाणं-निदान-कर्म किच्चा-करके तस्स-उस ठाणस्स-स्थान की अणालोइय-बिना उसका आलोचन किये जाव-यावत् देवलोएसु-देव-लोकों में देवत्ताए-देव-रूप से उववज्जति-उत्पन्न हो जाते हैं जाव-यावत्-सब वर्णन पूर्व सूत्रों के अनुसार जान लेना चाहिए ते-आपके आसगस्स-मुख को किं सदति-क्या अच्छा लगता है ? किसी-२ प्रति में निम्नलिखित पाठ अधिक मिलता है :-(जाव-यावत् देवलोएसु-देव-लोक में देवत्ताए-देव रूप से उववत्तारो भवंति-उत्पन्न होते हैं । से णं-वह फिर ततो-इसके अनन्तर देवलोगाओ-देवलोक से आउक्खएणं-आयु क्षय होने के कारण जाव-यावत् ते-आपके आसगस्स-मुख को किं सदति-क्या अच्छा लगता है)? __मूलार्थ-हे आयुष्मन् ! श्रमण! इस प्रकार निर्ग्रन्थ या निर्ग्रन्थियां निदान-कर्म करके उसका उस स्थान पर बिना आलोचन किये-यावत देव-लोक में देव-रूप से उत्पन्न हो जाते हैं । इसके अनन्तर वे देव-लोक से आयु आदि क्षय होने के कारण यावत् उग्र-कुल में कुमार-रूप से उत्पन्न हो जाते हैं । फिर पहले दूसरे आदि निदान-कर्म करने वालों के समान आपके मुख को कौन सा पदार्थ अच्छा लगता है-इत्यादि ।
टीका-इस सूत्र में भी सब वर्णन पूर्ववत् ही है । जैसे-वे निदान-कर्म करने वाले निर्ग्रन्थ या निर्ग्रन्थी पहले देव-लोक में उत्पन्न होते हैं । तदनन्तर अपने संकल्पों के अनुसार उग्र आदि कुलों में कुमार-रूप से उत्पन्न हो जाते हैं इत्यादि ।
