अथवा बुढ़ापे से ही पहले छोड़ दो, क्योंकि यह अध्रुव है अतः इसे छोड़ना ही अच्छा है । कहने का तात्पर्य इतना ही है कि उन्होंने विचारा कि मानुषिक काम भोग और मनुष्य - शरीर अवश्य ही घृणास्पद है, अतः त्याज्य है ।

संति उड्ढं देवा देवलोगंसि तेणं तत्थ अण्णेसिं देवाणं देवीओ अभिजुंजिय (इ) २त्ता परियारेंति अप्पणो चेव अप्पाणं विउब्विय (इ) २त्ता परियारेंति अप्पणिज्जियाओ देवीओ अभिजुंजय (इ) रत्ता परियारेंति । संति इमस्स तव नियमस्स जाव तं चैव सव्वं भाणियव्वं जाव वयमवि आगमेस्साणं इमाइं एयारूवाइं दिव्वाइं भोगभोगाई भुंजमाणो विहरामो । से तं साहू |
सन्त्यूर्ध्वं देवा देव-लोके ते नु तत्रान्येषां देवानां देवी-रभियुञ्जन्ति, अभियुज्य परिचारयन्ति । आत्मना चैवात्मानं विकुर्वन्ति, विकृत्य परिचारयन्ति । आत्मीया देवीरभियुञ्जन्ति, अभियुज्य परिचारयन्ति । यद्यस्य तपोनियमस्य यावत्सर्वं तच्चैव भणितव्यं यावत् वयमप्यागमिष्यतीमानेतद्रूपान् भोग भोगान् भुञ्जन्त्यो विहरामः । तदेतत्साधु ।
पदार्थान्वयः-उड्ढ - ऊपर देवलोगंसि - देव-लोक में देवा देव संति-हैं ते णं-वे देव तत्थ - वहां अण्णेसिं-दूसरे देवाणं- देवों की देवीओ-देवियों को अभिजुंजिय- वश में करते हैं और अभिजुंजिय (इ) त्ता - वश में कर परियारेंति - उपभोग में प्रवृत्त कराते हैं । दूसरे देव अप्पणो चेव अपनी ही अप्पाणं- आत्मा को विउव्विय-वैक्रिय करते हैं और विउव्विय (इ)त्ता - वैक्रिय कर परियारेंति - उपभोग में प्रवृत्त कराते हैं । दूसरे देव अप्पणिज्जियाओ - अपनी ही देवीओ-देवियों को अभिजुंजिय- वश में करते हैं और अभिजुंजिय (इ) त्ता - वश में कर परियारेंति - उपभोग में प्रवृत्त कराते हैं । यदि इमस्स - इस तवनियमस्स - तप और नियम के संति- फल हैं जाव-यावत् सव्वं - सब तं चेव - पूर्वोक्त भाणिव्वं - कहना चाहिये जाव - यावत् वयमवि- हम भी आगमेस्साणं- भविष्य में इमाई-इन
