दशमी दशा
हिन्दीभाषाटीकासहितम् ।
होना महाकष्ट है और स्त्री होना अत्युत्तम । यदि इस तप, नियम और ब्रह्मचर्य-वास का कुछ विशेष फल है तो हम भी आगामी काल में यावत् इस प्रकार के प्रधान स्त्रियों के काम-भोगों को भोगते हुए विचरण करेंगे । यह हमारा विचार श्रेष्ठ है ।
टीका- इस सूत्र में दिखाया गया है कि निर्ग्रन्थ तृतीय निदान-कर्म किस प्रकार करता है । जब निर्ग्रन्थ पूर्व- वर्णित स्त्री को देखता है तो मन में विचार करने लगता है कि संसार में पुरुष होना निस्सन्देह कष्टकर है क्योंकि पुरुष को अनेक उच्च - महापुरुषों से रचित और नीच - भिल्ल - किरातादियों से रचित संग्रामों में शघ्नी (तोप) आदि उच्च और पत्थर आदि नीच अस्त्रों से विद्ध होकर अनेक कष्ट सहन करने पड़ते हैं । अतः स्त्री होना ही ठीक है, क्योंकि उसे किसी भी संग्राम में नहीं जाना पड़ता । यदि हमारे इस तप, नियम और बह्मचर्य का कोई विशेष फल है तो हम भी दूसरे जन्म में स्त्री - सम्बन्धी भोगों को ही भोगेंगे, क्योंकि स्त्रीत्व उत्तम है ।

अब सूत्रकार उक्त विषय से ही सम्बन्ध रखते हुए कहते हैं:
एवं खलु समणाउसो ! णिग्गंथे णिदाणं किच्चा तस्स ठाणस्स अणालोइय अप्पडिक्कते जाव अपडिवज्जित्ता कालमासे कालं किच्चा अण्णतरेसु देवलोएसु देवत्ताए उववत्तारो भवति । से णं तत्थ देवे भवति महिड्ढिए जाव विहरति । से णं ताओ I देवलोगाओ आउ-क्खएणं भव - क्खएणं जाव अनंतरं चयं चइत्ता अण्णतरंसि कुलंसि दारियत्ताए पच्चायाति ।
एवं खलु श्रमण ! आयुष्मान् ! निर्ग्रन्थो निदानं कृत्वा तत्स्थानमनालोच्य (ततः) अप्रतिक्रान्तोऽप्रतिपद्य कालमासे कालं कृत्वान्यतरेषु देवलोकेषु देवतयोपपत्ता भवति । स नु तत्र देवो भवति, महर्द्धिको यावद्विहरति । स नु तस्माद्देव लोकादायुः क्षयेण भव-क्षयेण यावदनन्तरं चयं त्यक्त्वान्यतरस्मिन्कुले दारिकातया प्रत्यायाति ।

It is a great hardship to be a man, and it is most excellent to be a woman. If there is any special fruit of this austerity, rules, and celibacy, then we will also wander in the future, enjoying the pleasures of such principal women. This is our best thought.

**Commentary:** This sutra shows how the Nirgrantha performs the third nidana-karma. When the Nirgrantha sees the previously described woman, he begins to think in his mind that it is undoubtedly difficult to be a man in the world, because a man has to endure many hardships in battles fought by many great men and low-born Bhilla-Kiratas, being pierced by high weapons like cannons and low weapons like stones. Therefore, it is better to be a woman, because she does not have to go to any battle. If there is any special fruit of our austerity, rules, and celibacy, then we will also enjoy the pleasures related to women in the next birth, because womanhood is excellent.

Now the sutra-maker, keeping in mind the same subject, says:

Thus, O Shraman! Ayushman! The Nirgrantha, having performed the nidana, without considering that place (then), without returning, without accepting, having spent time for a period of months, becomes a deity in one of the heavenly realms. He then becomes a god there, a great giver, as long as he lives. He then, from that heavenly realm, due to the exhaustion of his lifespan, due to the exhaustion of his existence, having abandoned that state, returns to another family as a poor woman.
