टीका-इस सूत्र में राजा की आज्ञा का वर्णन किया गया है। महाराज श्रेणिक ने राज-कर्मचारियों को आज्ञा दी कि तुम लोग जाकर पूर्वोक्त स्थानों के अध्यक्षों से कहो चार तीर्थ की स्थापना करने वाले धर्म प्रवर्तक मोक्ष गमन की कामना करने वाले श्रमण भगवान एक गांव से दूसरे गांव में अनुक्रम से सुखपूर्वक विचरते हुए अपने आप में अपनी आत्मा को भावना करने वाले भगवान् महावीर स्वामी इस नगर में पधार जायं तो तुम लोग उनके लिए साधु के योग्य पीठ संस्तारक आदि पदार्थों की आज्ञा दे देना और आज्ञा देकर राजा से उनके आगमन-रूप प्रिय समाचार निवेदन करना। इस कथन से महाराज की श्री भगवान् के प्रति असीम भक्ति ध्वनित होती है। साथ ही यह बात भी भली भांति जानी जाती है कि श्री भगवान् के ठहरने का राजगृह नगर में कोई नियत स्थान नहीं
था।
अब सूत्रकार कहते हैं कि राज-पुरुषों ने राजाज्ञा का किस प्रकार पालन किया।
ततो ते कोडुंबिय-पुरिसा सेणिएणं रन्ना भंभसारेणं एवं वुत्ता समाणा हट्टतुट्ठ जाव हियया जाव एवं सामीति आणाए विणएणं पडिसुणेति-रत्ता एवं सेणियस्स रन्नो अंतिकाओ पडिनिक्खमंति-रत्ता रायगिह-नयरं मज्झं-मज्झेण निग्गच्छंति-रत्ता जाई इमाई भवंति रायगिहस्स बहिया आरामाणि वा जाव जे तत्थ महत्तरगा अण्णया चिट्ठति ते एवं वयंति जाव सेणियस्स रन्नो एयमलृ पियं निवेदेज्जा पियं भवतु दोच्चपि तच्चपि एवं वदइ-२त्ता जाव जामेव दिसं पाउब्भूया तामेव दिसं पडिगया।
ततस्ते कौटुम्बिक-पुरुषाः श्रेणिकेन राज्ञा भंभसारेणैवमुक्ताः सन्तो यावद्धृदयेन हृष्टास्तुष्टा यावदेवं स्वामिन् ! इत्याज्ञां विनयेन प्रतिशृण्वन्ति, प्रतिश्रुत्य च श्रेणिकस्य राज्ञोऽन्ति-कात्प्रतिनिष्क्रामन्ति, प्रतिनिष्क्रम्य राजगृह-नगरं मध्यं-मध्येन निर्गच्छन्ति, निर्गत्य य एते राजगृहस्य बहिरारामा वा यावद् ये तत्र महत्तरका आज्ञकास्तिष्ठन्ति तानेवं वदन्ति

**Commentary:** This sutra describes the king's order. King Shrenik ordered his officials, "Go and tell the heads of the aforementioned places, 'The Shraman Bhagwan, the Dharma-pravartak, the one who established the four Tirthas, the one who desires liberation, the Bhagwan Mahavira, who is wandering from village to village in a peaceful manner, contemplating his own soul, is arriving in this city. You should provide him with the necessary provisions for a Sadhu, such as a seat, bedding, etc., and inform the king about his arrival, which is a matter of great joy.' This statement reflects the king's immense devotion to Bhagwan. It is also clear that there was no fixed place for Bhagwan to stay in the city of Rajgriha."

Now the sutrakar says how the officials followed the king's order.

"Then those Kautumbika-purusha, being told by King Shrenik, the Bhambhasara, in this way, were happy in their hearts, and they said, 'Yes, Swami!' They accepted the order with humility. After accepting the order, they left the king's palace. Leaving the palace, they went through the middle of the city of Rajgriha. Leaving the city, they went to the outer gardens of Rajgriha, or wherever the important officials were staying, and they said to them, 'The king has sent us to inform you that he is very happy about this. Please convey this message to him. He is very happy about this.' They said this to everyone they met, until they reached the desired destination."
