नवमी दशा
आठवीं दशा में 'पर्युषणा कल्प' का वर्णन किया है । प्रत्येक मुनि को इसका आराधन उचित रीति से करना चाहिए । जो ऐसा नहीं करता वह मोहनीय कर्मों की उपार्जना करता है । इस दशा में जिन-जिन कारणों से मोहनीय कर्म-बन्ध होता है उन्हीं का वर्णन किया जाता है। मुनि को उन कारणों के स्वरूप को जान कर उनसे सदा पृथक् रहने का प्रयत्न करना चाहिए । मोहनीय (मोहयत्यात्मानं मुह्यत्यात्मा वार्नन) वह कर्म है जो आत्मा को मोहता है अथवा जिसके द्वारा आत्मा मोह में फंसता है । अर्थात् जिस कर्म के परमाणुओं के संसर्ग आत्मा विवेक - शून्य और मूक हो जाता है। उसी को मोहनीय कर्म कहते हैं । जिस प्रकार मादक द्रव्यों के आसेवन से आत्मा प्रायः अपने विवेक और चेतना को खो बैठता है इसी प्रकार मोहनीय कर्म के प्रभाव से भी आत्मा धार्मिक क्रियाओं से शून्य होकर विवेक के अभाव से चतुर्गति में परिभ्रमण करने लगता है । इस कर्म का बन्ध-काल उत्कृष्ट सत्तर कोटा-कोटि सागर के समान है । यह कर्म सब से प्रधान कर्म है । अतः प्रत्येक को इससे बचने का प्रयत्न करना चाहिए । इससे बचने के लिए चेतन करने को सूत्रकार ने इस दशा की रचना की है ।

तेणं कालेणं तेणं समएणं चंपा नाम नयरी होत्था । वण्णओ पुणभद्दे नामं चेइए वण्णओ कोणियराया धारिणी देवी । सामी समोसढे परिसा निग्गया धम्मो कहिओ परिसा पडिगया ।

The bondage period of this Karma is equal to seventy kotis of kotis of sagars. This Karma is the most important Karma. Therefore, everyone should try to avoid it.
