एताः खलु ताः स्थविरैर्भगवद्भिर्द्वादश भिक्षु-प्रतिमाः प्रज्ञप्ता इति
ब्रवीमि ।
सप्तमी दशा
इति भिक्षु प्रतिमा नाम सप्तमी दशा समाप्ता ।
पदार्थान्वयः - एयाओ-ये खलु निश्चय से ताओ - वे थेरेहिं - स्थविर भगवंतेहिं भगवन्तों ने बारस-बारह भिक्खु-पडिमा - भिक्षु - प्रतिमाएं पण्णत्ताओ - प्रतिपादन की हैं त्ति बेमि- इस प्रकार मैं कहता हूं । इति- इस तरह भिक्खु-पडिमा - भिक्षु - प्रतिमा णामं - नाम की सत्तमी - सप्तमी दसा - दशा समत्ता-समाप्त हुई ।
मूलार्थ - ये निश्चय से स्थविर भगवन्तों ने बारह भिक्षु प्रतिमाएं प्रतिपादन की हैं इस प्रकार मैं कहता हूं । इस प्रकार भिक्षु प्रतिमा नामक सातवीं दशा समाप्त हुई ।
टीका - इस सूत्र में प्रस्तुत अध्ययन की समाप्ति करते हुए सूत्रकार कहते हैं कि यही बारह भिक्षु - प्रतिमाएं स्थविर भगवन्तों ने प्रतिपादन की हैं, इस प्रकार मैं कहता हूं ।
यद्यपि अङ्ग सूत्रों में इन प्रतिमाओं का विधान होने से ये सब अर्हन्भाषित हैं तथापि स्थविर भगवन्तों को 'जिन' के समान भाषी सिद्ध करने के लिए ही उक्त कथन किया गया है । स्थविर वे ही होते हैं जो 'जिन' के कहे हुए सिद्धान्तों के अनुसार चलते हैं ।
श्री सुधर्मा स्वामी जी श्री जम्बू स्वामी जी से कहते हैं- "हे शिष्य ! जिस प्रकार मैंने श्री श्रमण भगवान् महावीर स्वामी जी के मुखारविन्द से इस दशा का अर्थ श्रवण किया उसी प्रकार तुम से कहा है, किन्तु अपनी बुद्धि से मैंने कुछ भी नहीं कहा ।"
