चावल पुव्वाउत्ताई-पका कर उतार दी गई हों तो से-उसको दोवि-दोनों ही पडिग्गहित्तए-ग्रहण करना नो कप्पति-योग्य नहीं । जे-जो से-उसके तत्थ-वहां पुवागमणेणं-आने से पहले पुवाउत्ते-पका हुआ है से-उसको पडिग्गहित्तए कप्पति-ग्रहण कर लेना चाहिए । जे-जो से-उसके तत्थ-वहां पुव्वागमणेणं-आने से पच्छाउत्ते-पीछे पके से-उसको पडिग्गहित्तए-ग्रहण करना नो कप्पति-योग्य नहीं ।
मूलार्थ-उपासक गृहस्थ के घर भिक्षा के लिए गया । यदि उसके वहां जाने से पहले घर में चावल पके हों और दाल न पकी हो तो उसको चावल ले लेने चाहिएं, दाल नहीं । यदि उसके जाने से पहले दाल पकी हो और चावल उसके पहुंचने के अनन्तर बनें तो उसको दाल ले लेनी चाहिए, चावल नहीं । यदि दोनों वस्तुएं उसके जाने से पहले ही बनी हों तो दोनों को ग्रहण कर सकता है। यदि दोनों पीछे बनें तो दोनों में से किसी को भी नहीं ले सकता । जो वस्तु उसके जाने से पहले की बनी हुई हो उसको वह ग्रहण कर सकता है जो उसके जाने के पीछे बने उसको नहीं ले सकता ।
टीका-इस सूत्र में एषणा-समिति का विषय वर्णन किया गया है । जिस प्रकार साधु-वृत्ति निर्दोष भिक्षा ग्रहण करने की है, उसी प्रकार श्रमणोपासक की वृत्ति के विषय में भी कहा गया है । उसको भी विशेष नियमों के आधीन रहकर ही भिक्षा करनी चाहिए । जैसे-जब वह अपनी जाति के लोगों में भिक्षा-वृत्ति के लिए जाय तो उसको ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि जो पदार्थ उसके जाने से पहले पक चुके हों और अग्नि से उतार कर किसी शुद्ध स्थान पर रखे हों उन्हीं को ग्रहण करने का उसको अधिकार है । किन्तु जो पदार्थ उसके जाने के अनन्तर बनें उनको वह ग्रहण नहीं कर सकता । उदाहरणार्थ मान लिया उसके घर पर पहुंचने से पहले वहां चावल पके हुए हैं और दाल पकने वाली है या दाल पकी हुई है और चावल पकने वाले हैं तो वह पहले पके हुए चावल या दाल को ग्रहण कर सकता है, अनन्तर बने हुए को नहीं । सारांश यह निकला कि जो पदार्थ उसके जाने के पहले तय्यार हों उनको वह ग्रहण कर सकता है और जो पीछे तैयार हों उनको नहीं ले सकता । यहां यह केवल सूचना मात्र है । इसका विशेष विवेचन
