सूत्र में “अस्नान" शब्द आया है उसका सम्बन्ध सर्व-स्नान से है अर्थात् उसको सर्व-स्नान नहीं करना चाहिए, वैसे हाथ आदि अङगों का प्रक्षालन करना निषिद्ध नहीं है । और "वियडभोई (विकटभोजी)" का अर्थ है "विकटे प्रकटे दिवसे न रात्राविति यावद्गोंक्तं शीलमस्येति विकटभोजी-चतुर्विधाहार-रात्रिभोजनवर्जकः । दिवापि वा प्रकाश-देशे भुङ्क्ते अशनाद्यवहरति । पूर्वं किल रात्रिभोजनेऽनियम आसीत्तदर्थमिदमुक्तम् ।' अर्थात् दिन में और प्रकाश में आहार करता है रात्रि में या दिन में अप्रकाश स्थान में आहार नहीं करता । सूत्र में यह भी आता है कि रात्रि में मैथुन क्रियाओं का परिमाण करे, उसके विषय में वृत्तिकार लिखते हैं-"रत्तिंति-विभक्ति-परिणामाद् रात्रौ-रजन्यां, किमत आह परिमाणं स्त्रीणां तद्भोगानां वा प्रमाणकृतं येन स परिमाण-कृतः, कदेत्याह-पडिमवज्जेसु त्ति-प्रतिमावर्जेषु-कायोत्सर्गरहितेषु पर्वसु-इत्यादि, दिवसेषु-दिनेषु इति” अर्थात् स्त्रियों का या उनके भोगों का रात्रि में परिमाण करना । किन्तु पर्व दिनों में तथा रात्रि की उपासक प्रतिमा में सर्वथा ब्रह्मचर्य धारण करना चाहिए । पर्व की तिथियों को छोड़कर अन्य तिथियों में ही रात्रि के परिमाण का विषय जानना चाहिए । इस प्रतिमा को
यथासूत्रम्-सूत्र-विधि से पालन करना चाहिए । यथाकल्पम्-यथा-कल्प (शास्त्रीय विधि के अनुसार) पालन करना चाहिए । यथामार्गम्-ज्ञानादि मार्ग के अनुसार सेवन करना चाहिए । याथातथ्यम्-यथातथ्य भाव से पालन करना चाहिए । यथासम्यग्-साम्य भाव से पालन करना चाहिए । कायेन स्पर्शयति-काय (शरीर) से स्पर्श करना चाहिए न केवल मनोरथ से । शोभयति शोधयति वा-अतिचारादि दोषों से शुद्ध करना चाहिए । तीरयति-नियमों की पूर्ति करता है । कीर्तयति-पारणक (उपवास समाप्ति) के दिन नियमों का गुणगान करना चाहिए । । अनुपालयति-निरन्तर पालन करना चाहिए ।
आज्ञामाराधयति-और प्रतिमा-पालन के समय तथा अन्य समय भी श्री भगवान् की आज्ञा का आराधन करना चाहिए ।
