जैसे-जिस ने अत्यन्त कठिन तप से अपनी आत्मा को शुद्ध किया है वही इस प्रकार के स्वप्नों को देखता है जिनका फल अन्तिम निर्वाण-पद की प्राप्ति हो । यथार्थ स्वप्न देखने से उसको समाधि आ जाती है । यही सिद्ध करने के लिए यहां पर कहा गया है कि यथार्थ स्वप्न देखने के माहात्म्य से आत्मा सब दुःखों से तथा घोर संसार-सागर से तर जाता है | श्री श्रमण भगवान् महावीर स्वामी भी दश स्वप्नों के दर्शन से संसार-रूपी समुद्र से पार हुए थे । किन्तु ध्यान रहे कि इस प्रकार के स्वप्न संवृत या संयत आत्माओं को ही आ सकते हैं ।
अब सूत्रकार देव-दर्शन के विषय में कहते हैं:पंताई भंयमाणस्स विवित्तं सयणासणं । अप्पाहारस्स दंतस्स देवा दंसेति ताइणो ।। ४ ।। प्रान्तानि भजमानस्य विविक्तं शयनासनम् । अल्पाहारस्य दान्तस्य देवा दृश्यन्ते तायिनः ।। ४ ।।
पदार्थान्वयः-पंताई-अन्त प्रान्त आहार को भयमाणस्स-सेवन करने वाले विवित्तं-स्त्री, पशु और पंडक रहित सयणासणं-शयन और आसन के सेवन करने वाले और अप्पाहारस्स-अल्पाहारी और दंतस्स-इन्द्रियों को दमन करने वाले ताइणो-षट्काय के जीवों की रक्षा करने वाले को देवा-देव दंसेति-दर्शन देते हैं ।
मूलार्थ-अल्प (कम मात्रा में) आहार करने वाले, अन्त-प्रान्त (साधारण) भोजन करने वाले, स्त्री, पशु, पंडक (नपुंसक) से रहित शय्या और आसन ग्रहण करने वाले, इन्द्रियों के दमन करने वाले तथा षट्काय जीवों की रक्षा करने वाले आत्मा को देव-दर्शन होता है ।
टीका-इस सूत्र में स्पष्ट किया गया है कि जो साधु नीरस और पुराने धान्य का आहार करने वाला है तथा अल्पाहार करने वाला है, पांच इन्द्रिय और मन का निरोध करने वाला है, स्त्री, पशु और पण्डक रहित शय्या और आसन सेवन करने वाला है और षट्काय जीवों की रक्षा करने वाला है, उसी को देव-दर्शन हो सकते हैं । शान्त-चित्त, मेधावी तथा गाम्भीर्यादि और पूर्वोक्त सब गुणों से युक्त मुनि को देव-शक्ति अपनी ऋद्धि
