शैक्षो रात्निकस्य व्याहरताऽप्रतिश्रोता भवत्याशातना शैक्षस्य ।।१६।।
पदार्थान्वयः-सेहे-शिष्य रायणियस्स-रत्नाकर के वाहरमाणस्स-आमन्त्रित करने पर अपडिसुणित्ता-वचन को सुनता ही नहीं तो सेहस्स-शिष्य को आसायणा-आशातना भवइ-होती है ।
मूलार्थ-रत्नाकर के आमन्त्रित करने पर यदि शिष्य ध्यान-पूर्वक नहीं सुनता है तो उसको आशातना लगती है ।
टीका-इस सूत्र में बताया गया है कि यदि रत्नाकर किसी शिष्य को बुलावे और वह उसकी बात को ध्यान से न सुने तो उसको आशातना लगती है । जैसे-रत्नाकर ने किसी कारण से शिष्य को बुलाया, शिष्य ने अपने मन में विचार किया कि यदि मैं प्रत्युत्तर न दूं तो गुरू जी समझ लेंगे कि कोलाहल के कारण न सन सका और रात्रि में चुप रहने से विचार लेंगे कि सो रहा है | अतः मौन धारण ही अच्छा है इस प्रकार विचार करके वास्तव में मौन धारण कर ले तो उसको आशातना लगेगी।
सिद्ध यह हुआ कि ऐसी छल-युक्त क्रियाएं कभी न करनी चाएं अपितु सदैव प्रसन्तापूर्वक गुरू की आज्ञा पालन करनी चाहिए ।
वक्ष्यमाण सूत्र में सूत्रकार उक्त विषय की ही आशातना कहते हैं:
सेहे रायणियस्स वाहरमाणस्स तत्थ गए चेव पडिसुणित्ता भवइ आसायणा सेहस्स ।।२०।।
शैक्षो रात्निकस्य व्याहरतस्तत्रगत (स्थितः) एव प्रतिश्रोता भवत्याशातना शैक्षस्य ।।२०।।
पदार्थान्वयः-सेहे-शिष्य रायणियस्स-रत्नाकर के वाहरमाणस्स-आमन्त्रित करने पर तत्थ गए चेव-वहां पर बैठा हुआ ही पडिसुणित्ता-वचन को सुनता है तो सेहस्स-शिष्या को आसायणा-आशातना भवइ-होती है ।
