ॐ वनवासी चोर THIEVES IN FOREST
६६. अवरे पाइक्कचोरसंघा सेणावइ-चोरवंद-पागड्डिका य अडवी-देसदुग्गवासी ॐ कालहरितरत्तपीतसुक्किल-अणेगसयचिंध-पट्टबद्धा परविसए अभिहणंति लुद्धा धणस्स कब्जे।
६६. इनके (पूर्वसूत्र में उल्लिखित राजाओं के) अतिरिक्त पैदल चलकर चोरी करने वाले चोरों के के समूह होते हैं। कई ऐसे (चोर) सेनापति भी होते हैं जो चोरों को प्रोत्साहित करते हैं। चोरों के यह समूह # अटवी आदि दुर्गम स्थानों में रहते हैं। उनके काले, हरे, लाल, पीले और श्वेत रंग के सैकड़ों चिन्ह-पट्टी
ते हैं, जिन्हें वे अपने मस्तक पर धारण करते हैं। पराये धन के लोभी बनकर वे चोर-समुदाय दूसरे प्रदेशों में जाकर धन का अपहरण करते हैं और मनुष्यों का घात करते हैं।
66. In addition to the kings above mentioned, there are thieves in 4 large number, who commit theft while moving on foot. There are their
leaders also who encourage them. Such groups of thieves reside in hilly 41 and undulating areas. They wear at their forehead hundreds of cloth
belts of black, green, red, yellow and white colour that distinguish them.
They are greedy of the money belonging to others. They go to other 5 regions to rob people of money. They also kill human beings.
विवेचन : ज्ञातासूत्र, विपाकसूत्र आदि आगमों में ऐसे अनेक चोरों और सेनापतियों का विस्तृत वर्णन उपलब्ध होता है, जो विषम दुर्गम अरण्य प्रदेशों में निवास करते और लूटपाट करते थे। पाँच-पाँच सौ सशस्त्र ॐ चोर उनके दल में थे जो मरने-मारने को सदा उद्यत रहते थे। उनका सैन्यबल इतना सबल होता था कि 5
राजाओं की सेना को भी पछाड़ देता था, राजाओं की सेना भी उनको पकड़ने में समर्थ नहीं होती थी। ऐसे ही चोरों एवं चोर-सेनापतियों का यहाँ संकेत किया गया है।

members in these groups and they were ready always to attack people. Their group was so powerful that they used to defeat even the army of a king. The state army was not capable to catch them. Such thieves and their leaders have been referred to in this lesson.
