Purush (man) is of four kinds -(1) Some man is victorious over 4 afflictions and never gets defeated by them. For example Bhagavan * Mahavir. (2) Some man gets defeated by afflictions and is never
victorious. For example Kundarik. (3) Some man is victorious sometimes
and gets defeated sometimes. For example Shailak Rajarshi and ascetic 卐 Megh. (4) Some man is neither victorious nor gets defeated. For example a neo-initiate who has never faced afflictions.
२८१. चत्तारि सेणाओ पण्णत्ताओ, तं जहा-जइत्ता णाममेगा जयइ, जइत्ता णाममेगा के पराजिणति, पराजिणित्ता, णाममेगा जयइ, पराजिणित्ता णाममेगा पराजिणति।
___ एवामेव चत्तारि पुरिसजाया पण्णत्ता, तं जहा-जइत्ता णाममेगा जयइ, जयइ णाममेगे । पराजिणति, पराजिणित्ता णाममेगे जयइ, पराजिणित्ता णाममेगे पराजिणति।
२८१. सेनाएँ चार प्रकार की होती हैं-(१) कोई सेना एक बार शत्रु-सेना को जीतकर दुबारा युद्ध होने पर फिर जीतती है, (२) कोई सेना एक बार शत्रु-सेना को जीतकर दुबारा युद्ध होने पर ॐ उससे पराजित होती है, (३) कोई सेना एक बार शत्रु-सेना से पराजित होकर दुबारा युद्ध होने पर उसे
जीतती है, और (४) कोई सेना एक बार पराजित होकर के पुनः पराजित होती है। __इसी प्रकार पुरुष भी चार प्रकार के होते हैं-(१) कोई साधु कष्टों (परीषहों) को जीतकर पुनः
(मनोविकारों को) भी जीतता है। जैसे-प्रसन्नचन्द्र राजर्षि; (२) कोई कष्टों को पहले जीतकर बाद में हार 卐 जाता है। जैसे-रथनेमि; (३) कोई पहले परीषहों से हारकर फिर धैर्य धारण कर जीत जाता है। जैसेहै मेघ मुनि; और (४) कोई पहले हारकर फिर भी हारता है। 4i 281. the enemy forces and gets defeated if there is a war again. 卐 In the same way purush (man) is of four kinds (1) Some man is
victorious once (over afflictions) and again (over mental perversions). For example Prasannachandra Rajarshi. (2) Some man is victorious once over afflictions and gets defeated the second time. For example Rathanemi. (3) Some man gets defeated once by afflictions and gets victorious second time. For example ascetic Megh. (4) Some man gets defeated once by afflictions and gets defeated second time as well.
