प्रतिसंलीन-अप्रतिसंलीन-पद PRATISAMLINATA-APRATISAMLINATA-PAD
(SEGMENT OF COUNTER-ENGROSSMENT) १९०. चत्तारि पडिसंलीणा पण्णत्ता, तं जहा-कोहपडिसंलीणे, माणपडिसंलीणे, मायापडिसंलीणे, लोभपडिसंलीणे। १९१. चत्तारि अपडिसंलीणा पण्णत्ता, तं जहाकोहअपडिसंलीणे जाव लोभअपडिसंलीणे।
१९०. प्रतिसंलीन चार प्रकार के होते हैं-(१) क्रोध-प्रतिसंलीन, (२) मान-प्रतिसंलीन, (३) माया-प्रतिसंलीन, (४) लोभ-प्रतिसंलीन। १९१. अप्रतिसंलीन चार प्रकार के होते हैं-(१) क्रोधअप्रतिसंलीन, यावत् [(२) मान-अप्रतिसंलीन, (३) माया-अप्रतिसंलीन], (४) लोभ-अप्रतिसंलीन।।
190. Pratisamlin (engrossed in the opposite) are of four kinds। (1) krodh-pratisamlin (engrossed in the opposite of anger or one who
indulges in counter-engrossment of anger), (2) maan-pratisamlin (engrossed in the opposite of conceit), (3) maya-pratisamlin (engrossed in the opposite of deceit), and (4) lobh-pratisamlin (engrossed in the opposite of greed). 191. Apratisamlin (not engrossed in the opposite) are of four kinds—(1) krodh-apratisamlin (not engrossed in the opposite of anger or one who does not indulge in counter engrossment of anger), ...and so on up to... [(2) maan-apratisamlin (not engrossed in the opposite of conceit), (3) maya-apratisamlin (not engrossed in the opposite of deceit), and] (4) lobh-apratisamlin (not engrossed in the opposite of greed)
विवेचन-प्रस्तुत प्रसंग में प्रतिसंलीनता का अर्थ है उसके प्रतिपक्ष में लीन हो जाना; जैसे-क्रोध का उदय होने पर क्षमा में लीन होना, मान का उदय होने पर नम्रता में लीन होना आदि। इसके विपरीत अप्रतिसंलीनता का अर्थ है, क्रोधादि कषायों का उदय होने पर उसमें ही परिणत हो जाना। औपपातिकसूत्र के अनुसार क्रोध-प्रतिसंलीनता का अर्थ है क्रोध के उदय का निरोध कर उस क्रोध को विफल कर देना।।
Elaboration—Here the meaning of pratisamlinata is to be engrossed in the opposite. For example to be engrossed in forgiveness when there is rise of anger and to be engrossed in humility when there is rise of conceit. Apratisamlinata is to yield to passions like anger and to flow with them. According to Aupapatik Sutra krodh-pratisamlinata means to control and diffuse anger when it rises.
