Elaboration-All these four entities are called 'asti' because they exist E in all the three periods (past, present and future); in other words they F have eternal existence. As they are constituted of multiple units or i
agglomerates they are called 'kaya'. Thus astikaya means agglomerative
entity. The entities having forms, taste and other physical properties are i called rupi dravya or entities with form, such as matter. As the second

१०१. चत्तारि फला पण्णत्ता, तं जहा-आमे णाममेगे आममहुरे, आमे णाममेगे पक्कमहुरे, पक्के णाममेगे आममहुरे, पक्के णाममेगे पक्कमहुरे। ___ एवामेव चत्तारि पुरिसजाया पण्णत्ता, तं जहा-आमे णाममेगे आममहुरफलसमाणे, आमे णाममेगे पक्कमहुरफलसमाणे, पक्के णाममेगे आममहुरफलसमाणे, पक्के णाममेगे पक्कमहुरफलसमाणे।
१०१. फल चार प्रकार के होते हैं-(१) कोई फल आम (कच्चा) होकर भी आम-मधुर (थोड़ा मधुर) होता है। (२) कोई फल आम होकर के भी पक्व-मधुर (पके फल के समान बहुत मीठा) होता है। (३) कोई फल पक्व (पका) होकर भी आम-मधुर (थोड़ा मधुर) होता है। (४) कोई फल पक्व (पका) होकर के पक्व-मधुर (बहुत मीठा) होता है।
इसी प्रकार पुरुष भी चार प्रकार के होते हैं-(१) कोई पुरुष आम-(अवस्था और श्रुताभ्यास की अपेक्षा अपक्व) होने पर भी उपशम आदि गुणों में अल्प-मधुर स्वभाव वाला होता है। (२) कोई पुरुष (अवस्था और श्रुताभ्यास से) परिपक्व न होने पर भी उत्कृष्ट उपशम भाव वाला और अत्यन्त मधुर ॥ स्वभावी होता है। (३) कोई पुरुष पक्व (वयोवृद्ध और ज्ञानवृद्ध) होने पर भी अल्प-उपशम भाव वाला 5
और अल्प मधुर स्वभावी होता है। (४) कोई पुरुष पक्व (वय और श्रुत से परिपुष्ट) होकर प्रकृष्ट उपशम वाला और अत्यन्त मधुर स्वभावी होता है। ____101. Fruits are of four kinds (1) some fruit is unripe and is slightly sweet, (2) some fruit although unripe is very sweet (almost like a ripe fruit), (3) some fruit although ripe is only slightly sweet, and (4) some fruit is ripe and is very sweet.
In the same way men are of four kinds-(1) some man is unripe (in terms of age and study of scriptures) and is slightly sweet (in terms of nature and virtues like tranquillity), (2) some man although unripe in age and study of scriptures is very sweet in nature and tranquillity, (3) some man although ripe in terms of age and study of scriptures is only slightly sweet in nature and tranquillity and (4) some man is ripe in age and study of scriptures and is very sweet in nature and tranquillity.
