5555555555555555555555555555 ताओ ! हिरण्णे य सुवण्णे य जाव सावएज्जे अग्गिसाहिए चोरसाहिए रायसाहिए मच्चुसाहिए दाइयसाहिए
अग्गिसामन्ने जाव दाइयसामन्ने अधुवे अणितिए असासए पुब्बिं वा पच्छा वा अवस्स-विप्पजहियव्वे ॐ भविस्सइ, से केस णं जाणइ० तं चेव जाव पब्बइत्तए।
४२. इस पर क्षत्रियकुमार जमालि ने माता-पिता से कहा-हे माता-पिता ! आपने जो यह कहा म कि तेरे पितामह, प्रपितामह आदि से प्राप्त द्रव्य के दान, भोग आदि के पश्चात् यावत् प्रव्रज्या ग्रहण #
करना आदि, किन्तु हे माता-पिता ! यह हिरण्य, सुवर्ण यावत् सारभूत द्रव्य अग्नि-साधारण (नष्ट हो
जाने वाला), चोर-साधारण, राज-साधारण, मृत्यु-साधारण एवं दायाद-साधारण (बँट जाने वाला) 5 है, तथा अग्नि-सामान्य यावत् दायाद-सामान्य (अधीन) है। यह (धन) अध्रुव है, अनित्य है और 4
अशाश्वत है। इसे पहले या पीछे एक दिन अवश्य छोड़ना पड़ेगा। अतः कौन जानता है कि कौन पहले ॐ जायेगा और कौन पीछे जायेगा? इत्यादि पूर्ववत् कथन जानना चाहिए; यावत् आपकी आज्ञा प्राप्त हो + जाए तो मेरी दीक्षा ग्रहण करने की इच्छा है।
42. Kshatriya youth Jamali replied, “Parents! You say that there is ki abundant wealth ... and so on up to... I may go and get initiated. But $ please note that all these earthly things including silver, gold ... and so 4
on up to... valuables can be consumed by fire. Thieves can take away this wealth. Government can confiscate it. Death can separate one from it and a partner can claim a share from it. In other words, this wealth is, in
fact, under control of fire ... and so on up to... a partner. Moreover, it is 卐 mutable, transient and impermanent. As such, who knows which one of
us will go first and who later? ... and so on up to... O parents! With your permission I want get initiated into the ascetic order."
विवेचन : माता-पिता ने जमालि के सामने, सुन्दर रमणियों के भोग की और यौवन की मोहकता का आर्कषण बताया, फिर शरीर व यौवन की सुन्दरता व सुदृढ़ता का अहंकार जगाने का प्रयास किया तथा धन वैभव का लोभ जगाने की चेष्टा की। परन्तु जमालि ने अपने अत्यन्त विवेक पूर्ण वैराग्य वचनों से उन सबकी निरर्थकता तथा नश्वरता बताकर माता-पिता को आश्वस्त किया कि उसका वैराग्य पक्का है।
Elaboration - Jamali's parents tried to entice him towards mundane life through attraction of beautiful women and pleasures of youth. Then they tried to inflame the ego of youthfulness and power and lastly the greed for wealth and grandeur. But Jamali convinced his parents about the depth of his feeling of detachment by logically proving the ephemeral
