विवेचन : प्रस्तुत सूत्र में जमालि ने माता-पिता के समक्ष विविध उपमाओं द्वारा जीवन की क्षणभंगुरता एवं अनित्यता का सजीव चित्र खींचा है। इन शब्दों से उसके दृढ़ वैराग्य की झलक मिलती है।
Elaboration - In this aphorism Jamali draws before his parents a vivid and lively picture of the transient nature of life with the help of a variety of metaphors. His strong resolve also finds expression in these words.
३७. (माता-पिता) तए णं तं जमालिं खत्तियकुमारं अम्मा-पियरो एवं वयासी-इमं च ते जाया ! सरीरगं पविसिहरूवं लक्खण-वंजण-गुणोववेयं उत्तमबल-वीरिय-सत्तजुत्तं विण्णाणवियक्खणं ससोहग्गगुणसमुस्सियं अभिजायमहक्खमं विविहवाहिरोगरहियं निरुवहयउदत्तलट्ठपंचिंदियपहुं, पढमजोव्वणत्थं
अणेगउत्तमगुणेहिं जुत्तं, तं अणुहोहि ताव जाव जाया ! नियगसरीर-रूवसोहग्गजोव्वणगुणे, तओ पच्छा, | अणुभूयनियगसरीररूवसोभग्गजोव्वणगुणे अम्हेहिं कालगएहि समाणेहिं परिणयवये वड्डियकुलवंसतंतुकज्जम्मि निरवयक्खे समणस्स भगवओ महावीरस्स अंतियं मुंडे भवित्ता अगाराओ अणगारियं पबइहिसि।
३७. पुत्र का कथन सुनकर क्षत्रियकुमार जमालि से उसके माता-पिता ने कहा- हे पुत्र ! तुम्हारा यह शरीर विशिष्ट रूप, लक्षणों, व्यंजनों (मस, तिल आदि चिह्नों) एवं गुणों से युक्त है, उत्तम बल, वीर्य
और सत्त्व से सम्पन्न है, विज्ञान में विचक्षण है, सौभाग्य-गुण से उन्नत है, कुलीन (अभिजात) है, महान् समर्थ (क्षमतायुक्त) है, विविध व्याधियों और रोगों से रहित है, निरुपहत, उदात्त, मनोहर और पाँचों के इन्द्रियों की पटुता से युक्त है तथा प्रथम (उत्कृष्ट) यौवन अवस्था में है, इत्यादि अनेक उत्तम गुणों से युक्त है है। इसलिए, हे पुत्र ! जब तक तेरे शरीर में रूप, सौभाग्य और यौवन आदि उत्तम गुण हैं, तब तक तू इनका अनुभव (उपभोग) कर। इन सबका अनुभव करने के पश्चात् हमारे कालधर्म प्राप्त होने पर जब तेरी उम्र परिपक्व हो जाए और (पुत्र-पौत्रादि से) कुलवंश की वृद्धि का कार्य हो जाए तब (गृहस्थ-जीवन से) निरपेक्ष होकर श्रमण भगवान महावीर के पास मुण्डित होकर अगारवास छोड़कर अनगारधर्म में प्रव्रजित हो जाना।
37. Hearing this from their son, the parents of Kshatriya youth Jamali said to him -- “O son! Your this body is endowed with unique s beauty, signs, marks (mole, birthmarks etc.) and qualities. It also has 4 great strength, potency and energy. It is rich in knowledge and good luck. It is noble, highly capable and free of ailments and diseases. It is unscathed, dignified and attractive. It has the perfection of five sense organs and is in the prime of youth. It is endowed with numerous such qualities.
