46. [Q.] Bhante ! Did the moons, suns, planets, constellations, stars 15 and other Stellar gods (Jyotishk Devs) that are within the range of
Manushottar mountain have their genesis in the upper world (Urdhva Lok)?
[Ans.] Gautam ! What is stated in Jivabhigam Sutra (Pratipatti 3) should be excerpted here up to the intervening period between two births for these gods is a minimum of one Samaya and a maximum of six months'.
४७. [प्र. ] बहिया णं भंते ! माणुसुत्तरस्स. जहा-जीवाभिगमे जाव इंदट्ठाणे णं भंते ! केवतियं कालं उववाएणं विरहिए पन्नत्ते ?
[ उ. ] गोयमा ! जहन्नेणं एक्कं समयं, उक्कोसेणं छम्मासा। सेवं भंते ! सेवं भंते ! त्ति.।
॥ अट्ठमसए : अट्ठमो उद्देसो समत्तो॥ ४७. [ प्र. ] भगवन् ! मानुषोत्तर पर्वत के बाहर जो चन्द्रादि देव हैं, वे ऊर्ध्वलोक में उत्पन्न हुए हैं ? [उ. ] गौतम ! जिस प्रकार जीवाभिगमसूत्र में कहा गया है, उसी प्रकार यहाँ भी यावत्[प्र. ] भगवन् ! इन्द्रस्थान कितने काल तक उपपात-विरहित कहा गया है ?
[उ. ] गौतम ! जघन्यतः एक समय, उत्कृष्टतः छह मास बाद दूसरा इन्द्र उस स्थान पर उत्पन्न होता है। इतने काल तक इन्द्रस्थान उपपात-विरहित होता है-यहाँ तक कहना चाहिए। ___हे भगवन् ! यह इसी प्रकार है, भगवन् ! यह इसी प्रकार है'; यों कहकर गौतम स्वामी यावत् विचरण करते हैं।
॥ अष्टम शतक : अष्टम उद्देशक समाप्त ॥ 47. (Q.) Bhante ! What about those beyond the Manushottar mountain ? ___ [Ans.] What is stated in Jivabhigam Sutra (Pratipatti 3) should be excerpted here. ... and so on up to ... [Q.] Bhante ! What is the intervening period between two births in the seat of king of gods (Indra Sthaan)? [A.] Gautam ! It is a minimum of one Samaya and a maximum of six months'.
“Bhante ! Indeed that is so. Indeed that is so." With these words... and so on up to... ascetic Gautam resumed his activities.
