5555555555555555555555555555555555558 ॐ गोयमा ! एवं बुच्चइ-जंबुद्दीवे णं दीवे सूरिया उग्गमणमुहुत्तंसि दूरे य मूले य दीसंति जाव अत्थमण जाव दीसंति।
३७. [प्र. ] भगवन ! यदि जम्बुद्वीप में दो सर्य, उदय के समय. मध्याह्न के समय और अस्त के समय सभी स्थानों पर (सर्वत्र) ऊँचाई में समान हैं तो ऐसा क्यों कहते हैं, कि जम्बूद्वीप में दो सूर्य उदय
के समय दूर होते हुए भी निकट दिखाई देते हैं, यावत् अस्त के समय में दूर होते हुए भी निकट दिखाई फ़ देते हैं ? ॐ [उ. ] गौतम ! लेश्या (तेज) के प्रतिघात से सूर्य उदय के समय दूर होते हुए भी निकट दिखाई देते
हैं। मध्याह्न में लेश्या (तेज) के अभिताप से पास होते हुए भी दूर दिखाई देते हैं और अस्त के समय तेज के प्रतिघात से दूर होते हुए भी निकट दिखाई देते हैं। इस कारण से, हे गौतम ! मैं कहता हूँ कि जम्बूद्वीप में दो सूर्य, उदय के समय दूर होते हुए भी पास में दिखाई देते हैं, यावत् अस्त के समय दूर होते हुए भी निकट दिखाई देते हैं।
37. (Q.) Bhante ! In the continent called Jambudveep if the two suns are at the same altitude from all conceivable points, then why is it said that in Jambudveep at the time of sunrise the two suns appear to be near though they are actually afar ... and so on up to ... at sunset they again appear to be near though they are actually afar ?
[Ans.] Gautam ! At the time of sunrise the two suns appear to be near though they are actually afar because of the fall (pratighaat) in the intensity of their radiation (leshya). At midday they appear to be near though they are actually afar because of the rise (abhitaap) in the intensity of their radiation. And again At the time of sunset they appear to be near though they are actually afar because of the fall (pratighaat) in the intensity of their radiation (leshya). That is why, Gautam ! I say that in Jambudveep at the time of sunrise the two suns appear to be near though they are actually afar ... and so on up to ... at sunset they again appear to be near though they are actually afar.
३८. [प्र. ] जंबुद्दीवे णं भंते ! दीवे सूरिया किं तीयं खेत्तं गच्छंति, पडुप्पन्नं खेत्तं गच्छंति, अणागयं खेत्तं गच्छंति ? _ [उ. ] गोयमा ! णो तीयं खेत्तं गच्छंति, पडुप्पन्नं खेत्तं गच्छंति, णो अणागयं खेत्तं गच्छंति।
३८. [प्र. ] भगवन् ! जम्बूद्वीप में दो सूर्य, क्या अतीत क्षेत्र की ओर जाते हैं, वर्तमान क्षेत्र की ओर जाते हैं, अथवा अनागत क्षेत्र की ओर जाते हैं ?
[उ. ] गौतम ! वे अतीत क्षेत्र की ओर नहीं जाते, अनागत क्षेत्र की ओर भी नहीं जाते, वर्तमान क्षेत्र की ओर जाते हैं।
