8. [Q.1] Bhante ! What about a jiva (soul) destined to be born among i Asur Kumar gods?
[Ans.] Gautam ! A jiva (soul) destined to be born among Asur Kumar gods experiences sometimes great pain and sometimes little pain during this birth and also while he is in the process of being born in the divine
realm. But after he is born there he mostly experiences pleasure (saata 卐 vedana) and very rarely pain (asaata vedana).
[2] The same should be repeated (for divine realms) up to Stanit Kumars.
९. [प्र. ] जीवे णं भंते ! जे भविए पुढविकाएसु उववज्जित्तए पुच्छा। [उ. ] गोयमा ! इहगए सिय महावेदणे, सिय अप्पवेदणे; एवं उववज्जमाणे वि; अहे णं उववन्ने भवति तओ पच्छा वेमायाए वेदणं वेदेति।
१०. एवं जाव मणुस्सेसु। ११. वाणमंतर-जोतिसिय-वेमाणिएसु जहा असुरकुमारेसु (सु. ८ [१])
९. [प्र. ] भगवन् ! जो जीव पृथ्वीकाय में उत्पन्न होने योग्य है, (उसके सम्बन्ध में भी) यही ॐ पृच्छा है।
___[उ.] गौतम ! वह (पृथ्वीकाय में उत्पन्न होने योग्य) जीव इस भव में रहा हुआ कदाचित् ॐ महावेदनायुक्त और कदाचित् अल्पवेदनायुक्त होता है, इसी प्रकार वहाँ उत्पन्न होता हुआ भी वह
कदाचित् महावेदना और कदाचित् अल्पवेदना से युक्त होता है और जब वहाँ उत्पन्न हो जाता है, तत्पश्चात् वह विमात्रा (विविध प्रकार) से वेदना वेदता है।
१०. इसी प्रकार का कथन मनुष्यपर्यन्त करना चाहिए।
११. जिस प्रकार असुरकुमारों के विषय में (अल्पवेदना-महावेदना-सम्बन्धी) कथन किया गया 卐 है, उसी प्रकार वाणव्यन्तर, ज्योतिष्क और वैमानिक देवों के विषय में भी कहना चाहिए।

(Ans.] Gautam ! A jiva (soul) destined to be born among earth-bodied beings experiences sometimes great pain and sometimes little pain during this birth and also while he is in the process of being born in the divine realm. But after he is born there he has diverse experiences.
10. The same should be repeated (for all beings) up to human beings.
11. As has been stated about Asur Kumar gods (in connection with 4 great and little pain) should be repeated for Vaanavyantar (interstitial),
Jyotishk (stellar), and Vaimanik (celestial vehicular) gods.
