५. [प्र. ] जीवे णं भंते ! जे भविए नेरइएसु उववज्जित्तए से णं भंते ! किं इहगते नेरइयाउयं । पडिसंवेदेति ? उववज्जमाणए नेरइयाउयं पडिसंवेदेति ? उववन्ने नेरइयाउयं पडिसंवेदेति ?
[उ. ] गोयमा ! णो इहगते नेरइयाउयं पडिसंवेदेइ, उववज्जमाणे नेरइयाउयं पडिसंवेदेति, उववने वि नेरइयाउयं पडिसंवेदेति।
६. एवं जाव वेमाणिएसु।
५. [प्र.] भगवन् ! जो जीव नारकों में उत्पन्न होने वाला है, भगवन् ! क्या वह इस भव में रहता हुआ नरकायुष्य का घेदन (प्रतिसंवेदन) करता है, या वहाँ उत्पन्न होता हुआ नरकायुष्य का वेदन करता - है, अथवा वहाँ उत्पन्न होने के पश्चात् नरकायुष्य का वेदन करता है ?
[उ. ] गौतम ! वह (नरक में उत्पन्न होने योग्य जीव) इस भव में रहता हुआ नरकायुष्य का वेदन नहीं करता, किन्तु वहाँ उत्पन्न होता हुआ वह नरकायुष्य का वेदन करता है, और उत्पन्न होने के ___ पश्चात् भी नरकायुष्य का वेदन करता है।
६. इसी प्रकार असुर कुमारों से वैमानिक तक चौबीस दण्डकों में (आयुष्यवेदन का) कथन करना ॐ चाहिए।
5. [Q.] Bhante ! Does ajiva (soul) destined to be born among infernal beings experiences naarakayushya (infernal life-span) right here during this birth, or experiences naarakayushya while he is in the process of being born among infernal beings, or experiences naarakayushya after he is born among infernal beings ? _____ [Ans.] Gautam ! That jiva (soul) experiences naarakayushya (infernal
life-span) not here during this birth. He experiences the naarakayushya while he is in the process of being born among infernal beings as well as after he is born among infernal beings.
6. The same should be repeated for Asur Kumar gods... and so on up y to... Vaimaniks (all twenty four Dandaks).
विवेचन : इन सूत्रों में आयुष्य निर्धारण का सार्वभौम नियम सूचित किया है कि किसी भी जीव के अगले
जन्म के आयुष्य का निर्धारण इसी भव में हो जाता है, उसके पश्चात् ही जीव परलोक की यात्रा प्रारम्भ । 卐 करता है।
Elaboration–These aphorisms inform about the universal law of determination of life-span. And it is that the life-span of the next birth of any living being is fixed right in this birth. Only then he starts the journey of the next life.
