३५. मनुष्यों में प्रत्याख्यानी मनुष्य सबसे थोड़े हैं, उनसे संख्येयगुणे प्रत्याख्यानाप्रत्याख्यानी हैं और 5 उनसे भी असंख्येयगुणे अप्रत्याख्यानी हैं।
34. In five sensed animals minimum are partial renouncers and innumerable times more than these are non-renouncers.
35. In human beings minimum are renouncers, countable times more than these are partial renouncers and innumerable times more than these are non-renouncers. जीवों की शाश्वतता-अशाश्वतता ETERNALITY AND NON-ETERNALITY OF BEINGS
३६. [प्र.१] जीवा णं भंते ! किं सासया ? असासया ? [उ. ] गोयमा ! जीवा सिय सासया, सिय असासया।
३६. [प्र. १ ] भगवन् ! क्या जीव शाश्वत हैं या अशाश्वत हैं ? _ [उ. ] गौतम ! जीव कथंचित् शाश्वत हैं और कथंचित् अशाश्वत हैं।
36. [Q. 1] Bhante ! Are living beings (jiva) eternal (shaashvat) or are they non-eternal ?
[Ans.] From one angle they are eternal and from another angle they are non-eternal.
[प्र. २ ] से केणटेणं भंते ! एवं बुच्चइ ‘जीवा सिय सासया, सिय असासया'?
[उ. ] गोयमा ! दवट्ठयाए सासया, भावट्ठयाए असासया। से तेणटेणं गोयमा ! एवं वुच्चइ जाव सिय असासया।
[प्र. २ ] भगवन् ! यह किस कारण से कहा जाता है कि जीव कथंचित् शाश्वत हैं, कथंचित् अशाश्वत हैं ?
[उ. ] गौतम ! द्रव्य की दृष्टि से जीव शाश्वत हैं, और भाव (पर्याय) की दृष्टि से जीव अशाश्वत हैं। + गौतम ! इस कारण ऐसा कहा गया है कि जीव कथंचित् शाश्वत हैं, कथंचित् अशाश्वत हैं।
[Q. 2] Bhante ! Why is it said that from one angle they are eternal and from another they are non-eternal ?
[Ans.] Gautam ! From the standpoint of entity (dravya) living beings (souls) are eternal and from the standpoint of state or mode (bhaava or paryaya) they are non-eternal. Gautam ! That is why it is said that from one angle they are eternal and from another angle they are non-eternal.
३७. [प्र. ] नेरइया णं भंते ! किं सासया ? असासया ? [उ. ] एवं जहा जीवा तहा नेरइया वि।
