[ उ. ] हाँ, गौतम ! यह इसी तरह होती है; अर्थात् जब जम्बूद्वीप के यावत् रात्रि होती है। 9. [Q.] Bhante! In the southern half of the continent named Jambudveep, when the day is slightly less than 18 Muhurts (Muhurtantar) long then in the northern half too is the day slightly less 5 than 18 Muhurts long ? And when the day is slightly less than 18 Muhurts long in the northern half then is the night in the region east and west of the Meru mountain in Jambudveep slightly more than (satirek) twelve Muhurts long ?

[Ans.] Yes, Gautam ! (It is like that, which means) In the southern half of the continent named Jambudveep... and so on up to ... slightly more than twelve Muhurts long.
१०. [ प्र.] जया णं भंते! जंबुद्दीवे दीवे मंदरस्स पव्वयस्स पुरत्थिमेणं अट्ठारसमुहुत्ताणंतरे दिवसे भवति तया णं पच्चत्थिमेणं अट्ठारसमुहुत्ताणंतरे दिवसे भवति ? जया णं पच्चत्थिमेणं अट्ठारसमुहुत्ताणंतरे दिवसे भवति तया णं जंबुद्दीवे दीवे मंदरस्स पव्वयस्स दाहिणेणं साइरेगा दुवालसमुहुत्ता राइ भवति ?
[ उ. ] हंता, गोयमा ! जाव भवति ।
१०. [ प्र. ] भगवन् ! जब जम्बूद्वीप के मन्दराचल से पूर्व में अठारह मुहूर्त्तानन्तर का दिन होता है, 5 तब क्या पश्चिम में भी अठारह मुहूर्त्तानन्तर का दिन होता है ? और जब पश्चिम में अठारह 5 मुहूर्त्तानन्तर का दिन होता है, तब क्या जम्बूद्वीप में मेरुपर्वत से उत्तर-दक्षिण में सातिरेक बारह मुहूर्त्त की रात्रि होती है ?
[उ. ] हाँ, गौतम ! (यह इसी तरह) यावत् होती है।
10. [Q.] Bhante ! When the day is slightly less than 18 Muhurts long in the region east of the Meru mountain in Jambudveep then is the day slightly less than 18 Muhurts long in the region west of the Meru mountain too? And when the day is slightly less than 18 Muhurts long in the east then is the night in the northern region of Jambudveep shortest, slightly more than twelve Muhurts long?
