$i As infernal worlds are deprived of the glow of sun rays, darkness
prevails there. The living beings, from earth-bodied beings to threesensed beings, dwelling in the world of humans and in physical contact with sun rays, are said to be in darkness. This is because of the fact that for the absence of the sense organ of seeing (chakshurindriya) they are
devoid of vision and as a consequence there is no functioning of $ auspicious particles in them. In this context they have functioning of
only inauspicious particles and as such they are in darkness only. Foursensed beings... and so on up to... human beings have both auspicious and inauspicious particles. This is because they are endowed with the sense organ of seeing (eyes) and have vision due to functioning of
auspicious particles when in contact with sun rays. There is absence of ir vision in them due to functioning of inauspicious particles when not ir
contact with sun rays. In abode dwelling gods (Bhavan-pati gods), interstitial, stellar and celestial-vehicular gods there is continuous functioning of auspicious particles because their realms are ever radiant. Thus they always have light and never darkness. नैरयिकादि में समय ज्ञान AWARENESS OF TIME
१०. [प्र. १] अस्थि णं भंते ! नेरइयाणं तत्थ गयाणं एवं पण्णायति, तं जहा-समया ति वा आवलिया ति वा जाव ओसप्पिणी ति वा उस्सप्पिणी ति वा ?
[उ. ] णो इणठे समठे।
१०. [प्र. १ ] भगवन् ! क्या नरकक्षेत्र में रहे हुए नैरयिकों को इस प्रकार का प्रज्ञान (विशिष्ट ज्ञान) होता है, जैसे कि-"यह समय है, आवलिका है, यावत् यह उत्सर्पिणी काल या अवसर्पिणी काल है?" + [उ. ] गौतम ! वहाँ रहे हुए नैरयिक जीवों को समयादि का प्रज्ञान नहीं होता। 卐 10. [Q. 1] Bhante ! Do the infernal beings living in hells have the
specific awareness (prajnana) that this is Samaya, this is Avalika ... and so on up to... regressive cycle of time and progressive cycle of time? ____ [Ans.] Gautam ! No, they do not have that awareness of time.
[प्र. २ ] से केणठेणं जाव समया ति वा आवलिया ति वा जाव ओसप्पिणी ति वा उस्सप्पिणी ति वा? ।
[उ. ] गोयमा ! इहं तेसिं माणं, इहं तेसिं पमाणं, इहं तेसिं एवं पण्णायति, तं जहा-समया ति वा जाव उस्सप्पिणी ति वा। से तेणटठेणं जाव नो एवं पण्णायति. तं जहा-समया ति वा जाव उस्सप्पिणी ति वा।
[प्र. २ ] भगवन् ! किस कारण से नरक में रहने वाले नैरयिकों को समय, आवलिका, यावत् ॥ उत्सर्पिणी-अवसर्पिणी काल का प्रज्ञान नहीं होता?
