11 bowl to crows and dogs. I will give whatever alms are collected in the 45
third compartment of my bowl to fish and turtles. Lastly, I will eat whatever alms are collected in the fourth compartment of my bowl." With this resolve, after two days of fasting, when the night ended and
sun arose he would follow the aforesaid procedure and eat whatever Hi alms were collected in the fourth compartment of his bowl.
२१. तए णं से पूरणे बालतवस्सी तेणं ओरालेणं विउलेणं पयत्तेणं पग्गहिएणं बालतवोकम्मेणं तं चेव जाव बेभेलस्स सनिवेसस्स मझंमज्झेणं निग्गच्छति, निग्गच्छित्ता पाउयकुंडियमादीयं उवकरणं चउप्पुडयं च
दारुमयं पडिग्गहं एगंतमंते एडेइ, एडित्ता बेभेलस्स सन्निवेसस्स दाहिणपुरथिमे दिसीभागे + अद्धनियत्तणियमंडलं आलिहित्ता संलेहणा-झूसणाझूसिए भत्त-पाणपडियाइक्खिए पाओवगमणं निवण्णे।। * २१. तदनन्तर पूरण बाल-तपस्वी उस उदार, विपुल, प्रदत्त और प्रगृहीत बाल-तपश्चरण के के कारण शुष्क एवं रूक्ष हो गया। (यहाँ बीच का सारा वर्णन तामली तापस की तरह जानना चाहिए)
यावत् वह (पूरण बाल-तपस्वी) भी 'बेभेल' सन्निवेश के बीचोंबीच होकर निकला। निकलकर उसने
पादुका (खड़ाऊ) और कुण्डी आदि उपकरणों को तथा चार खानों वाले काष्ठपात्र को एकान्त प्रदेश में 5 छोड़ दिया। फिर बेभेल सन्निवेश के अग्निकोण (दक्षिण-पूर्व दिशाविभाग) में अर्द्ध-निर्वर्तनिक मण्डल A (आधे शरीर प्रमाण रेखा खींचकर) बनाया, उसे साफ किया, यों मण्डल बनाकर उसने संलेखना की 5 जूषणा (आराधना) से अपनी आत्मा को सेवित, किया। फिर यावज्जीवन आहार-पानी का प्रत्याख्यान
करके उस पूरण बाल-तपस्वी ने पादपोपगमन अनशन-(संथारा) स्वीकार किया। h 21. dimensions of half his body). Puran hermit then spent his time enriching
his soul by observing the ultimate vow (sallekhana). He abandoned food fi and water completely and commenced the padapopagaman santhara (fast fiunto death lying still like a severed branch of tree).
