से भरी हुई गाड़ी हो, पत्ते, तिल और अन्य सूखे सामान से भरी हुई गाड़ी हो, एरण्ड की लकड़ियों से है 9 भरी हुई गाड़ी हो, या कोयले से भरी हुई गाड़ी हो, सभी गाड़ियाँ (गाड़ियों में भरी सामग्री) धूप में + अच्छी तरह सुखाई हुई हों और फिर जब चलती हैं तो खड़-खड़ आवाज करती हुई चलती हैं और ॥
__ आवाज करती हुई खड़ी रहती हैं, इसी प्रकार जब स्कन्दक अनगार चलते थे, खड़े रहते थे, तब खड़ऊ खड़ आवाज होती थी। यद्यपि वे शरीर से दुर्बल हो गए थे, तथापि वे तप से पुष्ट थे। उनका माँस और + रक्त क्षीण (अत्यन्त कम) हो गये थे, किन्तु राख के ढेर में दबी हुई अग्नि की तरह (बाहर से निस्तेज दिखने पर भी) वे तप और तेज से तथा तप-तेज की शोभा से अतीव सुशोभित हो रहे थे।
46. Then, as a consequence of the said austerities that were free of 55 expectations (udaar), extended (vipul), consented by the guru (pradatt), and observed with great devotion (pragrihit); that promised beatitude (kalyan rupa), security (shiva rupa), bliss (dhanya rupa), well-being (mangal rupa), and nobility (shriyukta); that were lofty (uttam), progressively enhancing (udagra), ideal (udaatt), beautiful, generous, highly efficacious and severe; that ascetic Skandak became dehydrated, haggard and devoid of flesh. His body was reduced to a mere skeleton covered with skin. When he walked his bones rattled. He was famished and weak, so much so that his veins became prominent and visible. It was through shear will power that he moved and stood. He was so emaciated that after speaking, or while speaking or even the thought of speaking exhausted him. When ascetic Skandak walked or just remained standing his body produced a rattling sound just like a cart filled with dry wood, dry leaves, sesame seeds or other dry things, twigs of Erand, or coal and further dried in sun, that rattles whether it is moving or stationary. Although he was weak in body, he was strong in austerities. Though his flesh ar d blood were almost reduced to nothingness, he still appeared exceptionally graceful due to his austerities and spiritual glow as well as the radiance of penance.
