[प्र. ३ ] से भंते ! किं ससरीरी निक्खमइ, असरीरी निक्खमइ ?
[उ.] गोयमा ! सिय ससरीरी निक्खमइ, सिय असरीरी निक्खमइ ।
[प्र. ] से केणट्टेणं भंते ! एवं बुच्चइ सिय ससरीरी निक्खमइ, सिय असरीरी निक्खमइ ?

[ उ. ] गोयमा ! वाउकायस्स णं चत्तारि सरीरया पण्णत्ता, तं जहा - ओरालिए वेडव्विए तेयए कम्मए । ओरालिय-वेउब्वियाई विप्पजहाय तेयय-कम्मएहिं निक्खमति, से तेणट्टेणं गोयमा ! एवं बुच्चइ - सिय ससरीरी सिय असरीरी निक्खमइ ।
[प्र. ३] भगवन् ! वायुकाय मरकर (जब दूसरी पर्याय में परलोक में जाता है, तब ) शरीर सहित होकर जाता है या शरीररहित होकर जाता है ?
[ उ. ] गौतम ! वह कथंचित् ( किसी अपेक्षा से) शरीर - सहित होकर जाता है, कथंचित् शरीररहित होकर जाता है।
[ प्र. ] भगवन् ! ऐसा आप किस कारण से कहते हैं कि वायुकाय का जीव जब निकलता है, तब 5 वह कथंचित् शरीर-सहित और कथंचित् शरीररहित होकर निकलता है ?
[ उ. ] गौतम ! वायुकाय के चार शरीर हैं - ( १ ) औदारिक, (२) वैक्रिय, (३) तैजस्, और (४) कार्मण। इनमें से वह औदारिक और वैक्रियशरीर को छोड़कर दूसरे भव में जाता है, इस अपेक्षा से वह शरीररहित जाता है और तैजस् तथा कार्मणशरीर को साथ लेकर जाता है, इस अपेक्षा से वह शरीर - सहित ( सशरीरी) जाता है। इसलिए गौतम ! ऐसा कहा जाता है कि वायुकाय मरकर दूसरे भव में कथंचित् सशरीरी और कथंचित् अशरीरी जाता है।
[Q. 3] Bhante ! On dying, do the air-bodied beings go out (to get reborn in other form and place) with the body or without it?
[Ans.] Gautam ! In some context (hathanchit) they go out with the body and in some context without it.
[Q.] Bhante ! Why do you say that in some context (kathanchit) they go out with the body and in some context without it?
[Ans.] Gautam ! Air-bodied beings have four types of bodies— (1) Audarik (gross physical ), ( 2 ) Vaikriya (transmutable), (3) Taijas (fiery), and (4) Karman (karmic). Of these, they go out without gross physical and transmutable bodies to their next birth; in this context they go out without the body. And they go with fiery and karmic bodies to their next birth; in this context they go with the body. That is why Gautam! It is said that on dying the air-bodied beings go out (to get reborn in other form and place) with the body in some context and without it in some context.
