जिसने चौथे प्रहर को छोड़ दिया है, ऐसे विगलित होते हुए सन्ध्यारागरूपी रुधिर को उसी प्रकार पी लिया जिस के लिए रखा गया धवलछत्र हो, मानो उसकी देवी (इन्द्राणी) के द्वारा धारण किया गया दर्पण हो। प्रकार अलिकुल के समान काले आते हुए मेघ के द्वारा धरतीरूपी कमल का पराग पी लिया जाता है। फिर घत्ता-रति का घर गोल-गोल चन्द्रमा ऐसा लगता है मानो दिशारूपी नारी ने श्रेष्ठ तारारूपी चावल अन्धकार से आच्छन्न विश्व इस प्रकार शोभित है जैसे सूर्य के विरह से वह काला हो गया हो, और मानो वह छिटककर अपनी निशारूपी सहेली के सिर पर दही का टीका लगाया हो॥१६॥ अपना पीला वस्त्र छोड़कर तथा काला वस्त्र (नीलाम्बर) पहनकर स्थित हो। इतने में चन्द्रमा का उदय हुआ, मानो पूर्व दिशा ने निशा के लिए लक्ष्मी कलश का प्रवेश कराया हो कि जो (निशा) ताराओंरूपी दाँतों से हँसती हुई स्वयं (विश्वरूपी) भवन में प्रवेश कर रही हो। वह चन्द्र ऐसा मालूम होता है मानो लक्ष्मी के करतल से दिशा में प्रवेश करते हुए चन्द्रमा की कान्ति से लोक ऐसा शोभित होता है जैसे दूध से धुला हुआ हो। छूटा कमल हो, मानो त्रिभुवन की सौन्दर्य लक्ष्मी का घर हो, मानो सुरत क्रीड़ा से उत्पन्न विषम श्रम को दूर तब रात्रि में विलास से युक्त, कामदेव की ऋद्धि को देनेवाला नाट्य प्रारम्भ हुआ। वाद्य जिस ओर रखे गये करनेवाला युबतीजनों के स्तनतल पर हिलता हुआ स्वेदरूपी हार हो, मानो अमृत बिन्दुओं का सुन्दर समूह हो, थे, वह पूर्व दिशा का मण्डप था। उसके दायें उत्तर में बैठे हुए तुम्बरु गायक देवों के द्वारा देखे गये। उनके मानो यशरूपी लता का अंकुर हो। मानो मणि तारारूपी कमल का स्पर्श हो, मानो आकाशरूपी नदी में सोया सामने कोमल शरीरवाली सरस्वती आदि बैठी हुई थीं। उनके दायें सुषिर आदि वाद्यों के वादक बैठे हुए हुआ राजहंस हो, मानो आकाश के रंगमंच पर अपने स्वभाव से युक्त कामदेव का अभिषेकपीठ हो। मानो इन्द्र थे, उनके बायीं ओर वीणाबादकों का समूह था। यह इस प्रकार धरती पर स्थानक्रम बताया गया,
