"विश्वरूपी बालक के पिता, तुम मेरे पिता हो। तुम्हारे बिना कला-विकल्प कौन बतायेगा ? तुम्हारे बिना इष्ट प्रजा का पालन कौन करेगा ? महान् तपश्चरण की निष्ठा कौन सहन करेगा ? तुम्हारे बिना तत्त्व का रहस्य कौन जानेगा ? हे देव, देवों का देव कौन होगा ? हे स्वामी, तुम्हारे बिना यह त्रिलोक अनाथ हो गया।" तब गणधर कहते हैं-"तुम मत शोक करो। जो मर गया, वह मरकर गर्भ में बसता है, छीजता है, भेद को प्राप्त होता है और दुःख से पीड़ित होकर चिल्लाता है। तुम्हारा पिता, हे देव, महान् तीर्थंकर, अजरअमर परमात्मा हो गये हैं। इन्द्र ने भी उससे यही कहा कि जो स्मरण करनेवालों के क्लेश का नाश करते हैं, तुम पिता कहकर, उनके लिए शोक क्यों करते हो ? जो तमःसमूह का नाश कर सिद्ध हो गये हैं। अरहन्त को स्मरण करनेवालों का धर्म होता है, तुम मोह के द्वारा दुष्कर्म का संचय मत करो।" यह सुनकर राजा भरत ने बलपूर्वक पिता के दुःख को सहन किया।
घत्ता - परमजिनेश्वर की वन्दना कर इन्द्र देवों सहित स्वर्ग चला गया, तथा माण्डलीक और महामाण्डलीकपति भरतेश्वर साकेत चला गया ।। २४ ।।

सुख-दुःख के कारण को नष्ट करनेवाले सोमप्रभ, राजा श्रेयांस और देव बाहुबलि भी निर्वाण को प्राप्त हुए, और त्रिलोक के उत्तमांग आठवीं धरती की भूमि पर तीनों स्थित हो गये। मदमोहरूपी महारोग का नाश करनेवाले, उद्धार करनेवाले, गणधरों के साथ, पूर्वार्जित कर्मरज को नाश करनेवाले गण वृषभसेन, समय बीतने पर मोक्ष गये। यहीं, जहाँ उपवनमें विद्याधरियाँ रमण करती हैं, ऐसे साकेत नगर में भी केशरविलेप लगाते हुए, दर्पणतल में मुख देखते हुए भरत ने एक सफेद बाल देखकर निरवशेष मनुष्य जन्म की निन्दा कर, नगर आकर पुरवर प्रचुर देश और अशेष धरती अपने पुत्र को समर्पित कर
