जिस रास्ते परमेश्वर महाजन (ऋषभ) गये हैं, जग में उस मार्ग का अनुसरण किसी ने नहीं किया। दूसरे को नष्ट कर जिस प्रकार धरती ग्रहण की जाती है हे राजन्, उसी प्रकार नाम भी मिटाया जाता है। तब बालहंस के समान लीलागतिवाले तथा लज्जारूपी मल से मलिन स्वामी राजा ने किसी राजा की अवधारणा अपने मन में की और किसी दूसरे राजा का नाम उतार दिया (मिटा दिया), तथा हाथ के कागणी मणि की रेखा से प्रदीप्त अपना नाम पहाड़ पर चढ़वा दिया कि "मैं काम का क्षय करनेवाले प्रथम तीर्थंकर ऋषभ जिन का पुत्र हूँ, नाम से भी भरत, जो धरतीतल पर श्रेष्ठ भरताधिपति कहा जाता है, और मैंने हिमवन्त समुद्रपर्यन्त
छह खण्ड धरती को स्वयं जीता है।" तब देवों ने साधुकार किया और भरत का जयजयकार किया कि तुम्हारे समान कोई चक्रवर्ती नहीं है, कौन इस प्रकार चन्द्रमा में अपना नाम अंकित करता है, कमल हाथ में लिए कमल में निवास करनेवाली और कमलमुखी लक्ष्मी किसके आगे-आगे दौड़ती है? किसका धन दारिद्रय का अपहरण करनेवाला है? किसका यश त्रिलोकगामी है? किसकी तलवार शत्रु का ध्वंस करनेवाली है? तुम्हें छोड़कर कौन कल्पवृक्ष है ? तुम्हें छोड़कर ज्ञान का घर कौन है? और किसका पिता परमात्मा देव है?
