जो बहुत से शास्त्रों के अर्थगौरव को धारण करती है, जो चौदह पूर्वो और बारह अंगों से युक्त है, जो जिनमुख से निकली हुई सप्तभंगी से सहित है, जो ब्रह्मा के मुख में निवास करनेवाली एवं शब्दयोनिजा है, जो निश्रेयस् की युक्ति और सौन्दर्य की भूमि हैं, जो दुःखों का क्षय करनेवाली और सुख की खदान है, ऐसी दिव्यवाणी सरस्वती देवी को प्रणाम कर मैं धर्मानुशासन के आनन्द से भरे हुए, तथा पाप से रहित नाभेय-चरित (आदिनाथ के चरित) का वर्णन करता हूँ।
यत्ता - जिस ( आदिपुराण) चरित्र को सुनने से मनुष्य को सुखों के समूह और त्रिभुवन को क्षुब्ध करनेवाले सुन्दर पाँच कल्याण प्राप्त होते हैं, तथा पदार्थों को जाननेवाले प्रशस्त पाँचों ज्ञान उत्पन्न होते हैं ॥ २ ॥
