महापुराणे उत्तरपुराणम बन्धहेतुफलज्ञान स्याच्छुभाशुभकर्मणाम् । विज्ञेयो मुक्तिसनावो मुक्तिहेतुश्च निश्चितः ॥ २४ ॥ निर्वगत्रितयोद्भतिर्धर्मश्रद्धाप्रवर्धनम् । असत्येयगुणश्रेण्या निर्जराशुभकर्मणाम् ॥ २५॥ भास्रवस्य च संरोधः कृत्स्नकर्मविमोक्षणात् । शुद्धिरात्यन्तिकी प्रोक्का सैव संसिद्धिरास्मनः ॥ २६ ॥ तदेतदेव व्याख्येयं श्रव्यं भव्यनिरन्तरम् । चिन्त्यं पूज्यं मुदा लेख्य लेखनीयञ्च भाक्तिकैः ॥ २७॥ विदितसकलशास्त्रो लोकसेनो मुनीशः
कविरविकलवृत्तस्तस्य शिष्येषु मुख्यः। सततमिह पुराणे प्रार्थ्या साहाय्यमुचै
गुरुविनयमनैषीन्मान्यता स्वस्य सनिः॥ २८ ॥ यस्योत्तुङ्गमतङ्गजा निजमदस्रोतस्विनीसङ्गमा
द्वाज वारि कलङ्कितं कटु मुहुः पीत्वापगच्छतषः । कौमारं घनचन्दनं वनमपां पत्युस्तरङ्गानिलै
मन्दान्दोलितमस्तभास्करकरच्छार्य समाशिश्रियन् ॥ २९ ॥ दुग्धाब्धौ गिरिणा हरौ हतसुखा गोपीकुचोट्टनैः
पचे भानुकरैभिदेलिमदले रात्रौ च संकोचने'। यस्योरःशरणे प्रथीयसि भुजस्तम्भान्तरोगम्भित
__स्थेये हारकलापतोरणगुणे श्रीः सौल्यमागाचिरम् ॥ ३० ॥
धारक पुरुषोंको अवश्य ही मोक्षकी प्राप्ति होती है, सब प्रकारकी शान्ति मिलती है, वृद्धि होती है, विजय होती है, कल्याणकी प्राप्ति होती है, प्रायः इष्ट जनोंका समागम होता है, उपद्रवोंका नाश होता है, बहुत भारी सम्पदाओंका लाभ होता है, शुभ-अशुभ कर्मोंके बन्धके कारण तथा उनके फलोंका ज्ञान होता है, मुक्तिका अस्तित्व जाना जाता है, मुक्तिके कारणोंका निश्चय होता है, तीनों प्रकारके वैराग्यकी उत्पत्ति होती है, धर्मकी श्रद्धा बढ़ती है, असंख्यात गुणश्रेणी निर्जरा होती है, अशुभ कर्मोंका आस्रव रुकता है और समस्त कर्मोंका क्षय होनेसे वह आत्यन्तिक शुद्धि प्राप्त होती है जो कि आत्माको सिद्धि कही जाती है। इसलिए भक्तिसे भरे हुए भव्योंको निरन्तर इसी महापुराण ग्रन्थकी व्याख्या करनी चाहिये, इसे ही सुनना चाहिये, इसीका चिन्तवन करना चाहिये, हर्षसे इसीकी पूजा करनी चाहिये और इसे ही लिखना चाहिये ।। २२-२७॥
समस्त शास्त्रों के जाननेवाले एवं अखण्ड चारित्रके धारक मुनिराज लोकसेन कवि, गुणभद्राचार्यके शिष्योंमें मुख्य शिष्य थे। इन्होंने इस पुराणको सहायता देकर अपनी उत्कृष्ट गुरु-विनयको सत्पुरुषोंके द्वारा मान्यता प्राप्त कराई थी॥ २८ ॥ जिनके ऊँचे हाथी अपने मद रूपी नदीके समागमसे कलङ्कित गङ्गा नदीका कटु जल बार-बार पीकर प्याससे रहित हुए थे तथा समुद्रकी तरङ्गोंसे जो मन्द-मन्द हिल रहा था और जिसमें सूर्य की किरणोंकी प्रभा अस्त हो जाती थी ऐसे कुमारीपर्वतके सघन चन्दनवनमें बार बार विश्राम लेते थे। भावार्थ-जिनकी सेना दक्षिणसे लेकर उत्तरमें गङ्गा नदी तक कई बार घूमी थी ।। २६ ।। लक्ष्मीके रहने के तीन स्थान प्रसिद्ध हैं-एक क्षीर-समुद्र, दूसरा नारायणका वक्षःस्थल और तीसरा कमल । इनमेंसे क्षीरसमुद्र में लक्ष्मीको सुख इसलिए नहीं मिला कि वह पर्वतके द्वारा मथा गया था, नारायणके वक्षःस्थल में इसलिए नहीं मिला कि वहाँ गोपियोंके स्तनोंका वार-बार आघात लगता था और कमलमें इसलिए नहीं मिला कि उसके दल सूर्यकी किरणोंसे दिन में तो खिल जाते थे परन्तु रात्रिमें संकुचित हो जाते थे। इस तरह लक्ष्मी इन तीनों स्थानोंसे हट कर, भुज रूप स्तम्भोंके आधारसे अत्यन्त सुदृढ़ तथा हारोंके समूह रूपी तोरणोंसे सुसज्जित जिनके विशाल वक्षःस्थल-रूपी घरमें रहकर चिरकाल तक सुखको प्राप्त हुई थी।। ३०॥

Whose lofty elephants, having drunk the bitter water of the Ganga, which was stained by the confluence of their own mad-like river, were repeatedly quenched of their thirst. They rested repeatedly in the dense sandalwood forest of the Kumari mountain, which was gently swaying with the waves of the ocean and where the rays of the sun were extinguished. || 29 ||
Lakshmi did not find happiness in the ocean of milk because it was churned by the mountain, nor in the chest of Narayana because it was repeatedly struck by the breasts of the Gopis, nor in the lotus because its petals bloomed during the day by the rays of the sun but contracted at night. || 30 ||
Thus, Lakshmi, leaving these three places, found happiness for a long time in the abode of the great-hearted, whose chest was like a strong house, supported by arms like pillars, and adorned with garlands like arches. || 30 ||
