The fifty-first chapter: Truth in words, truth in the speaker, truth in the speaker's words. Thus, Mahabala, the king, spent a long time happily, like one of the kalas of time. || 9 || Once, due to dissatisfaction with the enjoyment of desires, he developed dispassion. With a generous heart, he gave the kingdom to his son, Dhanapala, and went to the guru, Vimala-vahana, to practice restraint. He became a follower of the eleven angas and contemplated the sixteen causes of emotions. || 10-11 || By contemplating the sixteen causes of emotions, he performed the karma-bandha of the Tirthankara, which gives the fruit of the five auspicious qualities. Thus, he will become a Tirthankara. It is right, for what is not attainable for those who are devoted to their minds? || 12 || At the end of his life, he died in samadhi and attained the state of Indra for thirty-three oceans of years, being the first in the line of conquerors. || 13 ||

________________ पञ्चाशचमं पर्व अर्थे सत्ये वचः सत्यं सद्वक्तुर्वक्ति सत्यताम् । यस्यासौ पातु वन्दारूनन्दयन्नभिनन्दनः ॥ १ ॥ जम्बूपलक्षिते द्वीपे विदेहे प्राचि दक्षिणे। सीताया विषयो भागे व्यभासीन्मङ्गलावती ॥ २ ॥ राजा महाबलस्तत्र नगरे रजसञ्जये । स्वामिसम्पत्समेतोऽभूचतुर्वर्णाश्रमाश्रयः ॥ ३॥ पाति तस्मिन् महीं नासीद् ध्वनिरन्याय इत्ययम् । १प्रावर्तना प्रजाः स्वेषु स्वेषु मार्गेष्वनर्गलाः ॥ ४ ॥ पाडण्यं तत्र नैर्गुण्यमगाद्विगतविद्विषि । निर्गुणोऽपि गुणैस्त्यागसत्यादिभिरसौ गुणी ॥ ५॥ निःसपनः श्रियः सोऽभूत्पतिस्तस्याः सरस्वती। कीर्तिवीरश्रियोऽभूवन् सपत्न्यः प्रीतचेतसः ॥ ६ ॥ २अन्यवाकश्रोत्रयोः कीर्तिस्तस्य वाचि सरस्वती । वीरलक्ष्मीरसौ वक्षस्यहमित्यतुषद्मा ॥ ७ ॥ कान्ताकल्पलतारम्यो निजकायामरद्रमः । फलति स्म सुखं तस्य यद्यत्तेनाभिवान्छितम् ॥ ८॥ रम्यरामामुखाम्भोजसेवालोलाक्षिषट्पदः । सुखेन सोऽनयदीर्घ कालं कालकलामिव ॥ ९॥ कदाचिजातवैराग्यः कामभोगेऽप्यतर्पणात् । सूनवे धनपालाय दत्वा राज्य महामनाः ॥१०॥ "आदात् संयममासाद्य गुरुं विमलवाहनम् । एकादशाङ्गधार्येष भावितद्वयष्टकारणः ॥११॥ तीर्थकृनाम सम्प्रापत् फलं कल्याणपश्चकम् । येन तार्थकरोऽयं स्यात् किं नाप्स्यन्ति मनस्विनः ॥ १२॥ आयुषोऽन्ते स संन्यस्य विजयेऽनुत्तरादिमे । त्रयस्त्रिंशत्समुद्रायुरहमिन्द्रत्वमाययौ ॥१३॥ पदार्थके सत्य होनेसे जिनके वचनोंकी सत्यता सिद्ध है और ऐसे सत्य वचन ही जिन यथार्थ वक्ताकी सत्यताको प्रकट करते हैं ऐसे अभिनन्दन स्वामी वन्दना करनेवाले लोगोंको आनन्दित करते हुए हम सबकी रक्षा करें ॥१॥ जम्बूद्वीपके पूर्व विदेह क्षेत्रमें सीता नदीके दक्षिण तट पर एक मङ्गलावली नामका देश सुशोभित है ।। २।। उसके रत्नसंचय नगरमें महाबल नामका राजा था । वह बहुत भारीराजसम्पत्तिसे सहित तथा चारों वर्गों और आश्रमोंका आश्रय था-रक्षा करनेवाला था॥३॥ उसके पृथिवीकी रक्षा करते समय अन्याय यह शब्द ही नहीं सुनाई पड़ता था और समस्त प्रजा किसी प्रतिबन्धके बिना ही अपने-अपने मार्गमें प्रवृत्ति करती थी॥४॥ शत्रुओंको नष्ट करनेवाले उस राजामें सन्धि-विग्रह आदि छह गुणोंका समूह भी निर्गुणताको प्राप्त हो गया था और इस तरह निर्गुण होनेपर भी वह राजा त्याग तथा सत्य आदि गुणोंसे गुणवान् था राजा लक्ष्मीका एक ही पति था। यद्यपि सरस्वती कीर्ति और वीरलक्ष्मी उसकी सौतें थीं तो भी राजा सब पर प्रसन्नचित्त रहता था। उसकी कीर्ति अन्य मनुष्योंके वचनों तथा कानोंमें रहती है, सरस्वती उसके वचनोंमें रहती है, वीरलक्ष्मी वक्षःस्थल पर रहती है और मैं सर्वाङ्गमें रहती हूं यह विचार कर ही लक्ष्मी अत्यन्त सन्तुष्ट रहती थी ।। ६-७ ।। स्त्रीरूपी कल्पलतासे रमणीय उसका शरीररूपी कल्पवृक्ष, वह जिस जिसकी इच्छा करता था वही वही सुख प्रदान करता था ॥॥ जिसके नेत्ररूपी भ्रमर सुन्दर स्त्रियोंके मुखरूपी कमलोंकी सेवा करनेमें सदा सतृष्ण रहते हैं ऐसे उस राजा महाबलने बहुत लम्बा समय सुखसे कालकी एक कलाके समान व्यतीत कर दिया ॥६॥ किसी समय इच्छानुसार मिलनेवाले भोगोपभोगोंमें अतृप्ति होनेसे उसे वैराग्य उत्पन्न हो गया जिससे उस उदारचेताने धनपाल नामक पुत्रके लिए राज्य देकर विमलवाहन गुरुके पास पहुँच संयम धारण कर लिया। वह ग्यारह अङ्ग का पाठी हुआ और सोलह कारण भावनाओंका उसने चिन्तवन किया ॥ १०-११॥ सोलह कारण भावनाओंका चिन्तवन करनेसे उससे पञ्चकल्याणकरूपी फलको देनेवाले तीर्थंकर नामकर्म-बन्ध किया जिससे यह तीर्थकर होगा। सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि मनस्वी मनुष्योंको क्या नहीं प्राप्त होता ? ।। १२ ।। आयुके अन्तमें समाधिमरण कर वह विजय नामके पहले १ प्रवर्तने ल०। २ अनिन्दाश्रोत्रयोः ख०। ३ सुखे ल०। ४ कामभोगेष्वतर्पणात् क०, ख०, ग०, घ०। ५ अधात् ल०। ६ फलकल्याण-ल०। Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
