________________ ३१० महापुराणे उत्तरपुराणम् दशास्ये साम सामोक्त्या समीप्सौ सामवायिके। परुषोक्तिर्मयीत्यस्य धीशौर्ये पश्य कीशे ॥ ४५३॥ इमां तद्र्वदुर्भाषां श्रुत्वा राघवसेविना । चौर्येण परदाराणां नेतुरुन्मार्गगामिनः ॥ ४५४ ॥ दोषद्वयानुरूपं त्वं दण्डं द्रक्ष्यसि चाचिरात् । किं तेन तव चेत्पथ्यमिच्छेरुच्छिद्य दुर्मदम् ॥ ४५५ ॥ दत्वा गजं कुरूपासं स्वामिनो वृद्धिमेष्यति । अवश्यमचिरेणेति दूतेनोद्दीपितः ऋधा ॥ ४५६ ॥ बाली कालानुकारी तं प्रत्याह परुषं वचः । वारणाशां त्यजत्वस्ति चेदाशा नास्ति वा रणम् ॥ ४५७ ॥ यातु मत्पादसेवां स मयामा यातु वारणम् । तदा तस्याशुभां वाणी तद्विनाशविधायिनीम् ॥ ४५८ ॥ श्रत्वा दूतोऽभ्युपेत्यैषदलिनं बालिनोऽन्तकम् । प्रातिकूल्येन बाली वः कृत्रिमः शत्रुरुत्थितः ॥४५९॥ पारिपन्थिकवन्मार्गो दुर्गस्तस्मिन् विरोधिनि । इत्यब्रवीततो रामः सुग्रीवप्रमुखं बलम् ॥ ४६० ॥ लक्ष्मणं नायकं कृत्वा प्राहिणोत्खादिरं वनम् । गत्वा वैद्याधरं सैन्यं बालिनोऽभ्यागतं बलम् ॥ ४६॥ जघानेव वन वनं प्रज्वलच्छवसन्तति । स्वयं सर्वबलेनामा योद्धं बाली तदागमत् ॥ ४६२॥ पुनस्तयोरभू युद्धं बलयोः काललीलयोः । प्रलये वान्तकस्तत्र प्रायस्तृप्तिमुपेयिवान् ॥ ४६३ ॥ आकर्णाकृष्टनिर्मुक्तनिशातसितपत्रिणा । लक्ष्मणेन शिरोऽग्राहि तालं वा बालिनः फलम् ॥ ४६४ ॥ सदा स्वस्थानमापन्नौ सुग्रीवानिलनन्दनौ । सद्यः फलति संसेवा प्रायेण प्रभुमाश्रिता ॥ ४६५॥ ततः सर्वेऽगमन् रामस्वामिनं सोऽप्यनीयत । स्वस्थानं सबलो भक्त्या सुग्रीवेण सहानुजः ॥ ४६६॥ फैला लेंगे ? ॥ ४५१-४५२ ॥ स्त्रीका अपहरण करनेवाले रावणके लिए तो इन्होंने शान्तिके वचन कहला भेजे हैं और जो मिलकर इनके साथ रहना चाहता है ऐसे मेरे लिए ये कठोर शब्द कहला रहे है । इनकी बुद्धि और शूर-वीरता तो देखो कैसी है?॥४५३ ।। गवसे भरी हुई वालिकी नीच भाषाको सुनकर रामचन्द्रके दूतने कहा कि रावण चोरीसे परस्त्री हर कर ले गया है सो उस उन्मार्गगामीको दोनों अपराधोंके अनुरूप जो दण्ड दिया जावेगा उसे आप शीघ्र ही देखेंगे। अथवा इससे आपको क्या प्रयोजन ? यदि आपको महामेघ हाथी देना इष्ट है तो इस दुष्ट अहंकारको छोड़कर वह हाथी दे दो और स्वामीकी सेवा करो। ऐसा करनेसे आप अवश्य ही शीघ्र वृद्धिको प्राप्त होंगे। इस प्रकार कह कर दूतने बालिको क्रोधसे प्रज्वलित कर दिया ॥४५४-४५६॥ तब यमराजका अनुकरण करनेवाला बालि उत्तरमें निम्न प्रकार कठोर वचन कहने लगा। उसने कहा कि 'यदि रामचन्द्रको जीनेकी आशा है तो हाथीकी आशा छोड़ दें, यदि जीनेकी आशा नहीं है तो युद्धमें मेरे सामने श्रावें और उन्हें हाथी पर बैठनेकी ही इच्छा है तो मेरे चरणोंकी सेवाको प्राप्त हों फिर मेरे साथ इस हाथी पर बैठ कर गमन करें। इस प्रकार बालिका विनाश करनेवाली उसकी अशुभ वाणी को सुनकर वह दूत उसी समय बालिको नष्ट करनेवाले बलवान् रामचन्द्रके पास वापिस आ गया और कहने लगा कि बालि प्रतिकूलतासे आपका कृत्रिम शत्रु प्रकट हुआ है ॥ ४५७-४५६ ।। उस विरोधीके रहते हुए आपका मार्ग चोरोंके मार्गके समान दुर्गम है अर्थात् जब तक आप उसे नष्ट नहीं कर देते हैं तब तक आपका लङ्काका मार्ग सुगम नहीं है। इस प्रकार जब दूत कह चुका तब रामचन्दने लक्ष्मणको नायक बनाकर सुग्रीव आदिकी सेना खदिर-वनमें भेजी। जिसमें शत्रोंके समह देदीप्यमान हो रहे हैं ऐसी विद्याधरोंकी सेनाने सामने आई हुई बालिकी सेनाको उस तरह काट डाला जिस तरह कि वन वनको काट डालता है-नष्ट कर देता है। जब सेना नष्ट हो चुकी तब बालि अपनी सम्पूर्ण शक्ति अथवा समस्त सेनाके साथ स्वयं यद्ध करनेके लिए अ १६२॥ कालके समान लीला करनेवाली दोनों सेनाओंमें फिरसे भयंकर युद्ध होने लगा और काल उस युद्धमें प्रलयके समान प्रायः तृप्त हो गया ॥४६३ ॥ अन्तमें लक्ष्मणने कान तक खींच कर छोडे हए तीक्ष्ण सफेद वाणसे ताल वृक्षके फलके समान बालिका शिर काट डाला ॥४६४॥ उसी समय सुग्रीव और अणुमानको अपना स्थान मिल गया सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि अच्छी तरह की हुई प्रभुकी सेवा प्रायः शीघ्र ही फल देती है ।। ४६५ ।। तदनन्तर सब लोग राजा रामचन्द्रके पास गये । सुग्रीव, १ खदिरं ल.। Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
