महापुराणे उत्तरपुराणम्
वर्द्धमानश्रियं दृष्ट्वा राम तत्पुण्यचोदितम् । इतो द्वितयलोकैकहितं यायामधीश्वरम् ॥ ४०२॥ इति रक्तं स्वयं भूयो रणधीगोचरं बलम् । पञ्चाशत्कोटिसंयुक्तं लक्षाचतुरशीतिकम् ॥ ४०३ ॥ 'सार्द्धत्रिकोटिसङ्ख्यातं खेचरानीकमप्यदः । बलेन तेन सम्प्राप्य स नृसिंहः सलक्ष्मणः ॥१०॥ हतमयैव सीतां वा' सीतां च खचरेशिनः । समर्थः किन्तु दाक्षिण्यं विभोनैसगिर्क त्वयि ॥ ४०५॥ ततोऽह प्रेषितस्तेन त्वं च किं वेत्सि नेदृशम् । इति तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा कार्यविद्रावणानुजः ॥ ४०६ ॥ तदानीमेव तं नीत्वा दशाननमजिज्ञपत् । वचोहरोऽयं रामेण प्रहितो देवसन्निधिम् ॥ ४०७ ॥ इत्यसावपि योग्येन क्रमेणालोक्य रावणम् । तदादिष्टासने स्थित्वा प्राभृतार्पणपूर्वकम् ॥ ४०८ ॥ श्रव्यैहितमितालापैः शृणु देवेति बोधयन् । प्राज्ञो विज्ञाययामास प्रस्पष्टमधुरध्वनिः॥ ४०९ ॥ अयोध्यामधुनाध्यास्य वर्द्धमानो निजीजसा । 'आत्माभिगामिकप्रज्ञासाहसो गुणभूषणः ॥ ४१०॥ राघवः कुशली देवं त्रिखण्डाखण्डनायकम् । कुशलोदन्तसम्प्रश्नपूर्वमित्थमभाषत ॥ ४११॥ सीतान्यस्येति नीता सावस्मदीयेत्यजानता। किं जातं नास्ति दोषो द्राक प्रेषणीया मनीषिणा ॥४१२॥ न चेद्विनमिवंशैकभूषणस्य महात्मनः । नानारूपमिदं कर्म धर्म-शर्मविघातकृत् ॥ ४१३॥ "कुलपुत्रमहाम्भोधेर्न युक्तं मलधारणम् । सीताविमोचनोत्तगतरङ्गैः क्षिप्यता बहिः ॥ १४ ॥ इति तत्प्रोक्तमाकर्ण्य प्रत्युवाच खगेश्वरः । सीतां नानवबुध्याहमानैषं किन्तु 'भूभुजः ॥ ४१५॥
है तो इसमें आपका अपराध नहीं है वह पापी अपने आप ही नष्ट होगा। ४०१ ॥ इस समय जिनकी लक्ष्मी बढ़ रही है ऐसे रामचन्द्रको देख उनके पुण्यसे प्रेरित हुई तथा 'हम लोगोंको दोनों लोकोंका एक कल्याण करनेवाले रामचन्द्रजीकी शरण जाना चाहिए, इस प्रकार अनुरागसे भरी रणकी भावनासे ओतप्रोत पचास करोड़ चौरासी लाख भूमिगोचरियोंकी सेना और साढ़े तीन करोड़ विद्याधरोंकी सेना स्वयं ही उनसे आ मिली है। वे रामचन्द्र इतनी सब सेना तथा लक्ष्मणको साथ लेकर स्वयं ही यहाँ आ पहुँचेंगे। यद्यपि वे सीताके समान विद्याधरोंके राजा रावणकी लक्ष्मीको भी आज ही हरनेमें समर्थ हैं किन्तु उनका आपमें स्वाभाविक प्रेम है इसीलिए उन्होंने मुझे भेजा है। क्या आप इस तरह के सत्र समाचार नहीं जानते ? इस प्रकार अणुमानके वचन सुनकर कार्यको जाननेवाला विभीषण उसी समय उसे रावणके समीप ले जाकर निवेदन करने लगा कि हे देव ! रामचन्द्रने यह दृत आपके पास भेजा है। ४०२-४०७ ।। बुद्धिमान् तथा स्पष्ट और मधुर शब्द बोलनेवाले अणुमान्ने भी विनयपूर्वक रावणके दर्शन किये, योग्य भेंट समर्पित की। तदनन्तर रावणके द्वारा बतलाये हुए आसन पर बैठकर श्रवण करनेके योग्य हित मित शब्दों द्वारा उसने इस प्रकार कहना शुरू किया कि हे देव,सुनिये।।४०८-४०६॥ जो अपने तेजसे बढ़ रहे हैं, जिनकी बुद्धि तथा साहस सबको अपने अनुकूल बनानेवाला है, गुण ही जिनके आभूषण हैं तथा जो कुशल युक्त हैं ऐसे राजा रामचन्द्रने इस समय अयोध्यानगरमें ही विराजमान होकर तीन खण्डके एक स्वामी आपका पहले तो कशल-प्रश्न पछा है और फिर यह कहला भेजा है कि आप सीताको किसी दूसरेकी समझ कर ले आये हैं। परन्तु वह मेरी है, आप बिना जाने लाये हैं इसलिए कुछ बिगड़ा नहीं है। आप बुद्धिमान् हैं अतः उसे शीघ्र भेज दीजिए ॥ ४१०-४१२ ।। यदि आप सीताको न भेजेंगे तो विनमि वंशके एक रत्न और महात्मा स्वरूप आपका यह विचित्र कार्य धर्म तथा सुखका विघात करनेवाल होगा॥४१३ ।। कुलीन पुत्ररूपी महासागरको यह कलङ्क धारण करना उचित नहीं है। अत सीताको छोड़ने रूप बड़ी-बड़ी तरङ्गोंके द्वारा इसे बाहर फेंक देना चाहिए ॥ ४१४॥ अणुमानके यह वचन सनकर रावणने उत्तर दिया कि मैं सीताको बिना जाने नहीं लाया हं किन्त जानकर लाय हूँ। मैं राजा हूं अतः सर्व रत्न मेरे ही हैं और विशेष कर स्त्रीरत्न तो मेरा ही है। तुम्हारे राज
