महापुराणे उत्तरपुराणम् खत्रयायनपक्षोक्तवराहारमाहरत् । सुखी मनःप्रवीचारात्तमसः प्राग्गतावधिः ॥१५॥ तत्माणबलस्तेजोविक्रियाभ्यां च तत्प्रभः । चिरं तत्र सुखं भुक्त्वा तस्मिन्नत्रागमिष्यति ॥१५॥ द्वीपेऽस्मिन् दक्षिणे भागे साकेतनगरेश्वरः। इक्ष्वाकुः काश्यपः सिंहसेनो नाम महानृपः १६ ॥ जयश्यामा महादेवी तस्यास्या वेश्मनः पुरः। वसुधारां सुराः सारां मासषट्कीमपीपतन् ॥ १७ ॥ कार्तिके मासि रेवस्या प्रभातेऽह्नि तदादिमे । निरीक्ष्य षोडश स्वमान् विशन्त वाऽऽननं गजम् ॥ १८॥ अवगम्य फलं तेषां भूभुजोऽवधिलोचनात् । गर्भस्थिताच्युतेन्द्रासौ परितोषमगात्परम् ॥ १९॥ ततः स्वर्गावतरणकल्याणाभिषवं सुराः। सम्पाय वस्त्रमाल्योरुभूषणैस्तावपूजयन् ॥ २० ॥ सुखगर्भा जयश्यामा ज्येष्ठमास्यसिते सुतम् । द्वादश्यां पूषयोगेऽसौ सपुण्यमुदपादयत् ॥ २१ ॥ तदागत्य मरुन्मुख्या २मेरुशैलेऽभिषिच्य तम् । अनन्तजिनमन्वर्थनामानं विदधुर्मदा ॥ २२॥ नवाब्ध्युपमसन्ताने पल्यपादत्रये स्थिते । धर्मेऽतीताहतो ध्वस्ते तदभ्यन्तरजीवितः ॥ २३ ॥ त्रिंशल्लक्षसमात्मायुः पञ्चाशचापसम्मितः । कनत्कनकसङ्काशः सर्वलक्षणलक्षितः ॥ २४ ॥ खचतुष्केन्द्रियद्धयब्देष्वतीतेष्वभिषेचनम् । राज्यस्यालभताभ्यय॑स्स' नृखेशमरुद्धरैः ॥ २५॥ खपञ्चकेन्द्रियैकोक्तवर्षे राज्यव्यतिक्रमे । कदाचिदुल्का पतनहेतुनोत्पन्नबोधिकः ॥ २६ ॥ अज्ञानबीजसंरूढामसंयममहीयताम् । प्रमादवारिसंसिक्कां कषायस्कन्धयष्टिकाम् ॥ २७ ॥ योगालम्बनसंवृद्धां तिर्यग्गतिपृथककृताम् । जराकुसुमसंछवां बदामयपलाशिकाम् ॥ २८॥
ग्यारह माहमें एक बार श्वास लेता था, बाईस हजार वर्ष बाद आहार ग्रहण करता था, मानसिक प्रवीचारसे सुखी रहता था, तमःप्रभा नामक छठवीं पृथिवी तक उसका अवधिज्ञान था और वहीं तक उसका बल, विक्रिया और तेज था। इस प्रकार चिरकाल तक सुख भोगकर वह इस मध्यम लोकमें आनके लिए समुम्ख हुआ॥ १३-१५॥
उस समय इस जम्बूद्वीपके दक्षिण भरतक्षेत्रकी अयोध्यानगीमें इक्ष्वाकुवंशी काश्यपगोत्री महाराज सिंहसेन राज्य करते थे।।१६।। उनकी महारानीका नाम जयश्यामा था। देवोंने उसके घरके आगे छह माह तक रतोंकी श्रेष्ठ धारा बरसाई ॥ १७ ॥ कार्तिक कृष्णा प्रतिपदाके दिन प्रातःकालके समय रेवती नक्षत्र में उसने सोलह स्वप्न देखनेके बाद मुँहमें प्रवेश करता हुआ हाथी देखा ।। १८ ।। अवधिज्ञानी राजासे उन स्वप्नोंका फल जाना। उसी समय वह अच्युतेन्द्र उसके गर्भमें आकर स्थित हुआ जिससे वह बहुत भारी सन्तोषको प्राप्त हुई ॥१६॥ तदनन्तर देवोंने गर्भकल्याणकका अभिषेक कर वस्त्र, माला और बड़े-बड़े आभूषणोंसे महाराज सिंहसेन और रानी जयश्यामाकी पूजा की।।२०।। जयश्यामाका गर्भ सुखसे बढ़ने लगा। नव माह व्यतीत होने पर उसने ज्येष्ठ कृष्णा द्वादशीके दिन पूषायोगमें पुण्यवान् पुत्र उत्पन्न किया ॥२१॥ उसी समय इन्द्रोंने आकर उस पुत्रका मेरु पर्वत पर अभिषेक किया और बड़े हर्षसे अनन्तजित् यह सार्थक नाम रखा ॥ २२ ॥ श्रीविमलनाथ भगवान्के बाद नौ सागर और पौन पल्य बीत जाने पर तथा अन्तिम समय धर्मका विच्छेद हो जाने पर भगवान् अनन्त जिनेन्द्र उत्पन्न हुए थे, उनकी आयु भी इसी अन्तरालमें शामिल थी ॥२३॥ उनकी आयु तीन लाख वर्षकी थी, शरीर पचास धनुष ऊँचा था, देदीप्यमान सुवर्णके समान रङ्ग था और वे सब लक्षणोंसे सहित थे॥२४॥ मनुष्य, विद्याधर और देवोंके द्वारा पूजनीय भगवान् अनन्तनाथने सात लाख पचास हजार वर्ष बीत जाने पर राज्याभिषेक प्राप्त किया था ॥२५ ।।
