Mahapuraanam
A newly captured elephant, even when urged, did not want to enter the water covered with lotus leaves, fearing the ocean. || 122 || Even though captured for a long time, an elephant was strangely eager, looking at the forest with its fresh, edible leaves. || 123 || Many elephants did not drink water or eat grass at will, they were only remembering the pleasures of the forest. || 124 || The elephants, with their raised trunks and golden garlands shining on their sides, were being taken to the lakes by their mahouts. At that time, they seemed like the blue mountains with snakes or clouds with lightning. || 125 || The mahout, with great difficulty, brought the elephant near the water, which was enraged by the wind carrying the scent of the wild elephant's musk. || 126 || Suddenly, an enraged elephant shook its head sideways, not under the control of the goad, and made the mahout feel distressed. || 127 || Just as a rutting elephant does not want a female elephant whose body is filled with the scent of wild elephant's musk, so too, a rutting elephant does not want to enter a lake filled with the scent of wild elephants' play. || 128 || The army elephants did not drink the water that the forest elephants had drunk before, and which was therefore filled with the scent of musk. They only blew it away with their trunks. || 129 || The elephants who had drunk the lake water had increased the water of the lake by shedding their musk. This is right, because the noble ones do not desire to take anyone's wealth in vain. || 130 || Even though a rutting elephant was submerged in the middle of the lake with its trunk raised, it was clear that it was there, as it flew through the sky, making a sound like a swarm of bees. || 131 || A rutting elephant, whose roar competed with the clouds, was scratching the itch on its cheeks with the strong spray of water from its trunk. || 132 ||
