The great sage Gunapala Maharaja, beloved by Kubera, took up austerities. He was joined by many kings. ||34|| Seeing the fruits of supreme non-violence, I too took up that vow. Therefore, you were not killed. Thus, he praised him. ||34|| He said, "Previously, in the city of Mrinālavati, you were a Vaishya named Bhavadeva. There, you had enmity with Rativega and Sukanta and killed them. After death, they became a pigeon and a dove. There too, you killed them as a cat. They were reborn as a Vidyadhara and a Vidyadhri. Saying this, the two, whose mind, speech, and body were pure, and who had developed a love for the righteous Dharma, bowed to the sage and departed. ||347|| Hearing this, Hemaṅgada's younger sister, Sulochana, said, "Once, in the beautiful garden of Śivaṅkara in the city of Puṇḍarīkiṇī, the great sage Bhima, who had attained perfect knowledge by destroying his evil deeds, was residing. Everyone was worshipping him. At that time, four goddesses came there and bowed to him. They listened to the nature of Dharma and asked, 'O Lord of the three worlds, our husband has died because of our sins. Tell us, who will be our husband now?' ||348-350||
