## The Sixtieth Chapter
**449** The fragrant water, heavy, deep, sweet-sounding, the cloud-ocean pours down from the sky, close by. **36** Two Kalpa trees give clothes and ornaments, two others give food and drink, day and night. **37** Thus, all other enjoyments, created by the gods, were enjoyed by him without end. **38** His first stage of life was complete. **39** Seeing this, his parents were troubled, wondering if he desired one wife or many. **40** Calling their friend Priyasena, they asked him about their son's thoughts. His answer, based on friendship, confirmed their belief that their son desired only one wife. **41** Then, in the same city, there lived a wealthy merchant named Samudradatta, the brother of Dhanavati, the wife of Kubera Mitra. **42** His sister, Kubera Mitra, was married to Kubera Mitra. They had a daughter named Priyadatta, and her maid was named Ratikariņi. **43** Samudradatta had thirty-two beautiful daughters, including Priyadatta. **44** One day, the wise merchant, while performing a Yaksha puja in his garden, examined all thirty-two daughters, and found Priyadatta to be the most virtuous. **45** He decided to give her to his son on a day auspicious for marriage, a day blessed by the five planets: Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Venus, and Mars. **46** When the king's daughter, Yasasvati, came to observe the ceremony, she was given a vessel filled with various delicacies. **47** The merchant's wife, filled with shame, felt a sense of detachment.
