The Forty-Fourth Chapter
441. With the sound of trumpets and auspicious music, Jayakumar, like Indra himself, entered his Hastinapur, a city filled with various kinds of prosperity, bringing great joy. He resided in his royal palace, the heart of the city, with his beloved Sulochana, filled with happiness. 177-178
After that, the great king Jayakumar, possessing immense fortune, celebrated a grand festival on an auspicious day, with a pure lunar mansion and other five auspicious factors, satisfying everyone and starting with the worship of the Jinas. 179
With all auspicious wealth, he seated Sulochana on a worthy seat, in the presence of Hemaangad and his brothers, and happily tied the sacred thread, making her his queen. This is fitting, for wives who accumulate merit have such love from their husbands. 180-181
Then, the skillful Jayakumar, himself leading the way, served Hemaangad and his brothers with all kinds of delicacies, with dance, song, and pleasant words, with rides on elephants and other animals, with games in forests, gardens, and lakes, and with games like ball. He kept them happy for some days, and then gave them elephants, horses, weapons, courtesans, and ornaments, all to their liking, and satisfied their families as well. Then, he gave them four kinds of treasure - jewels, gold, silver, and money - and sent them off to their city, Banaras. 182-185
After traveling many stages with their companions, Hemaangad and the others reached Banaras and, along with their mother, Supribha, they went to see King Akampan and paid their respects. They stayed there, delighting their parents with stories of Jayakumar and Sulochana. 186
Thus, much time passed happily, and one day, King Akampan, weary of worldly pleasures, began to think: 187
"Alas, I, blinded by worldly desires, have been foolish. How unfortunate that the fleeting nature of worldly pleasures and the suffering of this body have been ignored for so long." 188
