Chapter Forty-Three
431. Su-mukha, as if unable to bear the weight of the emperor's grace, said, "O Dev, Jay and Akampan, who have received your blessings, bow to your feet." ||6||
Having said this, he prostrated himself before the emperor, touching his feet with his body. Then, with his lotus-like face blooming, he stood up with folded hands. ||66||
"Just as two chatakas eagerly await the first rain of the monsoon, so too, Jay and Akampan are eagerly awaiting your arrival and are sitting here, facing your direction." ||70||
Having informed the emperor, he received his permission and, with great speed, went to Akampan and Jay, bowing to them with due respect. ||71||
He then expressed the emperor's joy with words, like the rays of the sun at dawn, causing the lotus-like faces of the two princes to bloom. ||72||
The two kings, in turn, showered the messenger with gratitude, gifts, and honor. Indeed, kings are known for their gratitude. ||73||
Thus, with the attainment of unparalleled glory, Jay, the blessed one, lived happily in his father-in-law's house. ||74||
His eyes, like bees on the lotus-like face of Sulochana, and his body, like a quiver for the arrows of Kamadeva, were not wounded by the iron arrows of war, just as they are not wounded by the soft arrows of flowers. Indeed, the play of the gods is wondrous. ||75-76||
He made Sulochana, who was devoid of smiles, smile. He made her laugh loudly when she was not laughing. He made her fearless when she was afraid. He made her calm when she was agitated. He made her speak when she was silent. ||77||
