महापुराणम् चिरात् पर्याय'मासाद्य प्रनत्यत्केतवो रथाः । जविभिाजिभियुंढा प्राधावन् विद्विषः' प्रति ॥१७७॥ निश्शेषहे तिपूर्णेषु रयेष रथनायकाः। तुला' 'जगणुरारुह्य पिजरैः कुञ्जरारिभिः ॥१७॥ चक्रसंघट्टसम्पिष्टशवासृग्मांसकर्दमे । रथकटयाश्चरन्ति स्म 'तत्राब्धौ मन्दपोतवत् ॥१७॥ क न्तासिप्रासचक्राविसङकीण वणितक्रमाः१० । अक्रामन् कृच्छकृच्छे ण रणे रथतुरङगमाः ॥१८०॥ तदा सन्नद्धसंयुक्तसर्वायुधभृतं रथम् । सङक्रम्य वृषभं३ वाऽर्कः समारूढपराक्रमः ॥१८१॥ पुरोज्वलत्समुत्सर्पच्छरतीक्षणांशु सन्ततिः । शत्रुसन्तमसं भिन्दन् बालार्कमजयज्जयः ॥१८२॥ "मण्डलानसमुत्सृष्टदुष्टास्त्रः शस्त्रकर्मवित् । जयो भिषजमन्वयः१५ शत्रुशल्यं समुद्धरन् ॥१३॥ ध्वजस्योपरि धूमो वा तेनाकृष्टो"न" सायकः । पपात तापमापाद्य सूचयनशुभं द्विषाम् ॥१८४॥ ध्वजदण्डान् समाखण्ड्य विद्विषो ऽन्वीतपौरुषान् । कुर्वन् सर्वान् सनिशान सोमवंशध्वजायते ॥१८॥ विच्छिन्नकेतवः केचित् क्षणं तस्थुमता इव । प्राणन प्राणिनः२० कित्रु मानप्राणा हि मानिनः ॥१८६॥
प्रज्वलन्तं "जयन्तं ते जयं तं सोडमक्षमाः । सह सर्वेऽपि २२सम्पेतुः अभ्यग्नि शलभा यथा ॥१८७॥ वेगशाली घोड़े जिनमें जुते हुए हैं ऐसे रथ चिरकालमें अपना नम्बर (बारी) पाकर शत्रुओंके प्रति दौड़ने लगे ॥१७७॥ रथोंके स्वामी, सम्पूर्ण शस्त्रोंसे भरे हए रथोंपर सवार हो पिंजरों में बन्द हुए सिंहोंकी तुलना धारण करते हुए गरज रहे थे ॥१७८॥ उस युद्ध में पहियोंके संघट्टन से पिसे हुए मुरदोंके खून और मांसकी कीचड़ में रथोंके समूह ऐसे चल रहे थे मानो किसी समुद्र में छोटी छोटी नावें ही चल रही हों ॥१७९॥ बरछा, तलवार, भाले और चक्र आदिसे भरे हुए युद्धक्षेत्रमें घायल पैरोंवाले रथके घोड़े बड़े कष्टसे चल रहे थे ॥१८०॥ उसी समय तैयार हुए तथा जुड़े हुए सब प्रकारके शस्त्रोंसे व्याप्त रथपर आरूढ़ होनेसे जिसका पराक्रम वृषभ राशिपर आरूढ़ हुए सूर्य के समान बढ़ रहा है, जिसके आगे चलते हुए बाणरूपी तीक्ष्ण किरणों का समूह प्रकाशमान हो रहा है और जो शत्रुरूपी अन्धकारको भेदन कर रहा है ऐसे उस जयकुमारने उदय होता हुआ बाल-सूर्य भी जीत लिया था ॥१८१-१८२॥ अथवा वह जयकुमार किसी अच्छे वैद्य या डाक्टरका अनकरण कर रहा था क्योंकि जिस प्रकार वैद्य शस्त्रकी नोंकसे बिगड़ा हुआ खून निकाल देता है उसी प्रकार वह जयकुमार भी तलवारकी नोंकसे दुष्टशत्रुओंका खून निकाल रहा था, जिस प्रकार वैद्य शस्त्र चलानेकी क्रियाको जानता है उसी प्रकार वह जयकुमार भी शस्त्र चलानेकी क्रिया जानता था और वैद्य जिस प्रकार शल्यको निकाल देता है उसी प्रकार जयकुमार भी शत्रुरूपी शल्यको निकाल रहा था ॥१८३॥ उसके द्वारा चलाये हुए बाण शत्रुओंको संताप उत्पन्नकर अशुभकी सूचना देते हुए धूमकेतुके समान उनकी ध्वजाओंपर पड़ रहे थे ॥१८४॥ उस समय शत्रओंकी ध्वजाओंके दंडोंको खंड खंड कर सब शत्रुओं को पौरुषहीन तथा वंशरहित करता हुआ जयकुमार सोमवंशकी ध्वजाके समान आचरण कर रहा था ॥१८५॥ जिनकी पताकाएं छिन्नभिन्न हो गई हैं ऐसे कितने ही शत्रु क्षगभरके लिये मरे हुएके समान खड़े थे सो ठीक ही ह क्योंकि प्राणोंसे ही प्राणी नहीं गिने जाते किन्तु अभिमानी मनुष्य अभिमानको ही प्राण समझते हैं ॥१८६॥ अच्छी तरह जलते हुए
