Mahapuraanam
He who carried the burden of the Yuga, the heavy chariot of Dharma for a long time, and who was adorned with vows, conduct, and virtues, was indeed a wonder. ||7||
Meditating on that one syllable, the manifest one, like the syllable Om, I will speak, summarizing the topics and the essence of this Purana. ||8||
All the rasas (emotions) were used by our Guru, Jinasenaacharya, in this Purana, out of his love. Therefore, we will use only those rasas that were left by him, with devotion. ||9||
Leaving behind anger and other emotions, the authors of Puranas, with pure knowledge, pure and desirous of liberation, describe the rasas like love, etc. ||10||
The essence of this Purana has been fully explained by the great soul, Jinasenaacharya. Our effort in the remaining part is like completing a remaining part of a building. ||11||
In this Purana, which is full of profound words and meanings, and adorned with excellent leaves and fruits, my words are like new leaves. Therefore, wise people should surely hold them in their ears. Meaning: Just as people hold new leaves of a tree in their ears, wise people should also hold these words of mine in their ears, i.e., listen to them with love. ||12||
The first part of this Purana is made by the Guru, i.e., Jinasenaacharya, or the long syllable, and the latter part is made by the disciple (Gunabhadra), who is different from the Guru, or the short syllable. Therefore, will it not be beautiful like a verse? Meaning: Just as a verse made of long and short syllables is very beautiful, this Purana made by the Guru and the disciple will also be very beautiful. ||13||
Just as the first part of sugarcane is juicy, so is the first part of this Purana. With this thought, I begin the composition of its latter part. ||14||
Do not seek for excellence in me, but accept this as Dharma. Those who desire sweetness in flattery, do not desire food for the eater. ||15||

And it is amazing that he who alone carried the burden of this Avasarpini Yuga (the burden of the dice in the game of the world), for a long time, driving the heavy chariot of Dharma, filled with vows, conduct, and other virtues. ||7||
Such a unique, imperishable Lord, Rishabhadeva, I meditate on, like the famous Om syllable, and considering the previous scriptures, I speak this essence of the Mahapuraana. ||8||
Our Guru, Jinasenaacharya, has spoken all the rasas in this Purana out of his love. Therefore, we will use only those rasas that were left by him, with devotion. ||9||
